I think Papa Roach would fall under this list.
What about you? |

| I guess Skillet would count considering their sketchy beginnings |

Skillet and Demon Hunter.
Skillet sounded horrible at first, and Demon Hunter never really was bad, but their albums keep getting better and better. |

| Most punk bands are better during their beginnings because the record companies haven't tapped into their style and talent, then inject pop and ruin it all. That happens to a lot of bands... |

Generic answer but...
The Beatles Early Beatles stuff is awful, entirely boring.
@Way2 I think punk bands just usually run out of ideas. They create a greeaaat sounds then just repeat that forever. Or their first album is just so groundbreaking, that nothing after that could ever hold up and break any new ground. |

@Gary: Sometimes...Either that, or they have one album that is really good, but all the songs sound almost exactly the same, with only one or two standing out. Like "...And Out Come the Wolves"
But Sublime is a pretty good example of what I was saying. 40oz. to Freedom was not just their best album, it was their longest. It had 70 minutes worth of music, all self produced, recorded, and released on tape and CD. Robbin the Hood, their 2nd album was mostly a joke, at least it was a hilarious one, so I'm going to move on to Sublime. Sublime was supposed to be Killin' It, but then Brad died. They had a different sound than on 40oz. It was the fact they had the freedom to do whatever they wanted with 40oz., but it was MCA Records who really decided in the end how the album sounded. |
