Hi, josh here. It's come to my attention that these 13+ gears make no sense to me. I first remember seeing the 13+ symbol by my username a few months ago, thus bringing me to think that they were going to make forums 13+. I was wrong, they made some gears 13+. Let's dig into why I think this is wrong.
- Don't game have guns? - Since when do guns influence kids bad stuff? - Haven't there been guns before the 13+?
Don't games have many guns? For example, any type of zombie game in ROBLOX's view should be 13+, but there's no rule on it. I don't understand why they'd make a gun a 13+ item, when they simply can just go into a gear testing place, or zombie place and get the full experience. If you're not agreeing with me yet, just keep listening.
Since when do guns influence bad things? I've noticed the age of people that start playing FPS/MMO games are getting younger and younger. Call of Duty for example, they can't really control the consumer but it's preferred by the ESRB that you be 17+. Getting back on topic, I don't see why a virtual M1 Garand will influence a minor under 13, to go purchase a M1 Garand from the store, and shoot someone for fun. Like I said, if it's in the games, and there's been no influence already, why make them 13+?
Haven't there been guns before 13+? http://www.roblox.com/BB-Gun-item?id=42845609 http://www.roblox.com/Pirates-Flintlock-item?id=16726984 http://www.roblox.com/Captains-Flintlock-item?id=17237675
Those are some example of guns that can be classified as 13+, but kids under 13 are eligible to buy. Thus referring back to my first point, in that games have guns all the time now, it's a trend in ROBLOX. There's many FPS games that are being played at such young ages, it doesn't even matter what type of influence they get, because they know they won't go steal a gun and shoot someone because of a virtual game. If they ever got that feeling, it would probably be because something in their family is going wrong, or they're suffering from depression.
Basically, all I'm saying is this 13+ rule shows no support to minors if they can go into a catalog testing game, or go into a zombie FPS game. I think you should remove this. Also, since when is a Vampire Potion a 13+ gear, I think kids are mature enough to know what a vampire looks like. |

Let's break this down step by step.
"Hi, josh here." Hello there. ^We couldn't tell your name because it was hidden from your forum post for some reason.^
"thus bringing me to think that they were going to make forums 13+." The forums have always been 13+. By law aswell, if I remember correctly.
"I was wrong, they made some gears 13+. Let's dig into why I think this is wrong." Let's see how long this goes before crashing into the magic WNTS barrier. :D
"- Don't games have guns?" Please do remember that roblox has just implemented the idea. It will take time for them to iron out the kinks.
"- Since when do guns influence kids bad stuff?" :U? My hip was annihilated, because a kid shot me a few days after I voiced something about CoD. In most uses of a gun, it's an agro implant.
"- Haven't there been guns before the 13+?" Not realistic ones. And by that, roblox means a gun that is not used in a modern military force.
"Don't games have many guns?" Most of them thanks to a certain abomination mentioned above, yes.
"For example, any type of zombie game in ROBLOX's view should be 13+, but there's no rule on it." Again, it's a new feature. It may have some reasoning shortly. Personally, I think it's something to do with not breaking the law or something...
"Getting back on topic, I don't see why a virtual M1 Garand will influence a minor under 13, to go purchase a M1 Garand from the store, and shoot someone for fun." I do. It's happened to me. There's been numerous examples of people actually shooting people because of CoD/halo/gears/Whatever. Sure, not for fun, but it's the agro value that counts. Watch Happy tree friends. You'll see what I mean.
"http://www.roblox.com/BB-Gun-item?id=42845609" ^The military totally uses these.^ "http://www.roblox.com/Pirates-Flintlock-item?id=16726984 http://www.roblox.com/Captains-Flintlock-item?id=17237675" ^These are so modern and a totally widely used.^
(Note: ^ <- This is a ^scarcasm mark.^)
"Those are some example of guns that can be classified as 13+, but kids under 13 are eligible to buy." None of them are realistically used under the millitary anymore.
"Basically, all I'm saying is this 13+ rule shows no support to minors if they can go into a catalog testing game, or go into a zombie FPS game." And like I keep saying: It's a very new feature. Maybe'll be like BC games: A failed experiment. Maybe it'll be like terrain: Everyone hates it and underestimates it.
Maybe it's roblox trying to expand into a more... universal marketing. Guns that realistic (They vowed not to.)
"I think you should remove this." Eleven quotes. Well, that lasted. And anyway, the magical WNTS has spoken on this one.
"Also, since when is a Vampire Potion a 13+ gear, I think kids are mature enough to know what a vampire looks like." Blame the ESRB or something. Is it the ESRB that regulates this stuff? or is it that BBB logo? What even is BBB? :/. |

| 13+ Gears are not really essential to roblox, but there's no point in taking them out now, anyway. |

| They may not be accurate guns, but they're still guns. |

It's not about accuracy:
It's about realism. I hypothesize it's got something to do with some ridiculous law that all realistic guns on a virtual game must be 13+ obtainable only. That's why FB is 13+ only. And chat/forums are 13+ only. |

-tl;dr. -No valid suggestion. -Stop complaining. -Actually, hiding guns to -13 in Roblox is useless, because most 10y.o. I know play games like Cod, Half-Life, GTA, or L4D. |

| And I think shooting zombies in a game full of gore and falling body parts (The Boomer zombie EXPLODES and splits in half) like Left4Dead is a lot more inappropriate than some brick-shooting guns that make your character get bloxxed, go "OOO" and respawn. |

OBJECTION! Both the M1 Garand and the shotgun are either from WWI or WWII, and off production now. @cold: You can still help in the demolition. |
