Vote: What was more pointless, the Iraq war of the Vietnam war
Vietnam: The french had colonies in SE Asia that fought for independence after WWII and got it, France got mad and went to get them back. Along with the British they succeeded in capturing South Vietnam and after a while gave power to a mad dictator that killed buddhists for a hobby. When the communist north vietnamese decided they wanted the rest of their country back the french came back to help the south, the USA the staged an attack on one of their battleships off NVA water as an excuse to get involved to defend "Democracy"(IE a dictator who they only helped so they could kill communists and keep the pro US government in place). In the process they massacred thousands of innocent civilians they were "defending"
tl;dr French imperialism + Americans wanting to kill communists and defend a dictator
Iraq: T3rr0ri-st attacks happened. The perpetrators were found to be mostly Saudi and to have trained as pilots in the UK.George Bush declares the war against terror(work out the Acronym)Though there was proof Hussein had no WMDs and hated the t3rr0ri-st group responsible for the attacks the Americans used it as an excuse to go anyway, they then said that he should have been removed for being a dictator anyway, but this contradicts attitudes towards Vietnam as described earlier and Syria. They managed to kill 100,000 civilians on the way as well, and for some reason the US seems to be proud of this achievement.
tl;dr George bush wanted; Political control, oil and saw it as his duty to carry on where his father left the first gulf war + Islam0pho-bia

Viet Nam: SV was not captured, rather it split into a Leninist North and a supposedly republican South. The US Supported the Autocratic regime in SV until withdrawing in the late 1960s, never even invading North Vietnam. (Limited War BS)
When SV fell, millions of Vietnamese were sent to 're-education' camps by the victorious Communist Government.
Iraq: Intelligence collected by the English and the French suggested Iraq was in posession of WMDs, which the US worried could fall into the hands of Al Qu3da, which Saddam's regime had previously supported financially. The fact he routinely bombed his own people didnt help matters very much.
None of the oil wells captured by the Coalition were taken over by US Oil companies, much less George W Bush.
tl;dr read a book

| For the most part, both Vietnam and Iraq were guerilla wars. |

Vietnam kicked America's stankass so I'm voting for Iraq.
