Just to see UCRs opinions about the "elections".
"Elections have become nothing more than popularity contests. And UCR needs a change."
"We should abolish elections."
"Elections don't even matter- think about it fellas. UCR doesn't vote on anything. And it shouldn't."
(keep scrolling if you don't feel like reading long statements)
"Personally, I hate elections.
I hated them when they were first brought into UCR, and I hate them now. To become a High Rank, it shouldn't be whether you're popular with the members or not, it should be how good you are at leading. It should be skill, and determination. It should be the heart, and activity you put into the clan. It should be about respect, and whether or not you're willing to put the time and effort into the clan.
That's what elections are... Popularity tests.
If elections were still to stand, I think Exemplar or Philosopher should be changed into a rank which is higher than Officer, yet lower than H1, with the ability to should and hold trainings, and whatnot. I honestly don't think popularity should determine whether you're a good leader or not.
I think H2, and H3 should be specially picked by TheEvidence, his Vice-President(s) and even the H4 Directors, (because H1 are already picked by the Directors as their personal assistants), so that High Ranks are loyal, and trustworthy, and basically brilliant.
Now, looking at other point of views, the flaw in this may be that it becomes harder to become a High Rank, but that's exactly the point. To become a High Rank, you /need/ to be good. Active. Respectful. Honest. Loyal. Determined. In some cases, strict. You need to be willing to put time and effort in. You /need/ to respect lower ranks in ways you would like them to respect you, and you need to listen to them too. There are other points to being a leader, but this post seems to be never ending, so I'll wrap it up.
Abolish elections."
Not so good right?
"The elections are another story.
They started off fine, we had tons off able candidates, almost all veterans and experienced, and that eventually would get elected. Now this went well until they began to get demoted. They got demoted and just left, they felt all their work was now useless. The elections then became ruined when PartyTimeCc got elected. He was able to exploit the system and get re-promoted for holding useless events, which useless for UCR it boosted his popularity among members.
Now look at the past. If a promoter worked hard and did good and was liked, he didn't have to worry about these elections, he or she would keep their rank. Not so with the elections, it's all popularity. Senators can virtually do nothing and get re-elected. Plus it's still all popularity, the worthy officers aren't getting promoted and aren't working towards fixing UCR.
It's just a bad system that needs to go."
I could pick more but it'd be a waste of time. I could also pick ones that support the elections but, all those say is "UCR is a democracy it's our right to vote blah blah"
TL;DR version I say the elections should be removed from UCR, what do you say? |

Considering my (very long) statement is in there from:
"Personally, I hate elections." to "Abolish elections."
I believe my opinion on the matter is pretty clear. |

| Here is a suggestion How about people are nominated by Hrs and voted on by every one. Keeps any Hr from just putting their friends in high positions. This could also let Hr's pick who they feel are good active members to run. |

| What ever floats your boat. It's not an ironclad plan but if we work on it it could really fix things. |

| I say drop the election idea, and just handpick them all to save yourself time. |

But it would be basically putting forward recommendations to TheEvidence, and he would promote people he thinks deserving of the rank, and trustworthy.
Hand Picked > Elections.
Not to mention, if your idea were to be brought into UCR, High Ranks could just nominate their friends, and therefore no one else less known to UCR get the chance.
UCR has never been democratic, I used to try to fool myself and pretend it was, but it's not. We may as well go the full hog and make it a successful clan by actually having good leaders rather than POPULAR leaders. Elections is all about favoritism. I cannot stress this enough.

| Well what proof do I have that TE won't just pick his friends? How about future presidents? My way there is still enough power the people have that can monitor the Hr's, who are not perfect. |

| Elections should be removed, but must also be replaced by a system to enable the People's Voice to reach UCR's upper echelons. |

Your plan doesn't work because it's just about the same thing as the original election system.
Just handpick the Hrs instead of trying to create another system for elections, or having a pointless discussion that will result in something as stupid as the oligarchy system TE brought up. |
