So I was planning on creating an fighting game/FPS. I'm not quite sure how it's all going to work out, so I'm writing out my ideas here in hopes you guys criticize it enough that I can get a general idea of what to do. Please suggest anything within reason of a fighting game, and tell me when something would make the game not as fun to play...

I'm just lighting off a ton of ideas here that I want to do and produce. I want a ton of feed back, specific ideas, statistics, and anything you can think of. I'll consider each idea. Thanks!

I want to create a game with these general elements
- Tycoon / Point System
    - Guns, vehicles, etc.
    - Gained through kills,
- Gun System
    - Base some off real life/have stats
    - Balance them, but make a few better then others then use in point system
    - Attachable items like Silencer, red dot sight
    - Already have models built
    - Scripting issues involved
        - Made firing mechanism, few features...
        - Easily modified
        - Problem: Animations are a pain...
   - Planing on 14 joint animation system (Like Ninja turtles/Bionicle)
        - Got the a few animations done, found out it's a pain.
        - Need a custom animation system instead of using ROBLOX's.
        - Needs to be dynamically generated for gun pointing (PAIN!)
        - Looks nice, but may not be worth the effort.
        - Should I drop it?
    - Aiming (Q or right mouse button)
    - Would show up in class-selection
    - Already designed the firing system, and main mechanics and scripted
    - Raycasting designed into it
- Vehicle System
    - Fairly OK for me to program now, not to many issues, most deal with physics and CFrame
    - May be slightly laggy
    - Already have boats working
    - Need to get auto-tracking turrets to work...
    - Need to perhaps redesign all the vehicles
    - Consider putting armour into the design of them (I think, a yes)
- Gameplay
    - Several different types of maps, probably just not vehicles
    - Randomly generated maps? Or Prebuilt maps? Or a combination???
        - Land based
        - Water Based
             - Already exists in my current game...
        - Perhaps a total air based one with floating bases?
    - Your opinion?
    - Different modes
        - Team vs. Team
        - Free for all
        - Team vs. Team vs. Team
        - Alliance Mode (2 best players get selected to pick their team members...
        - Any more ideas?
    - Set about 50-100 years in the future. (Fun technology!)
    - Attempt to NOT base it off any other FPS games
    - Armour
        - Armour system with parts and explosives
        - But no fracturing, because this lags
        - Let players build bases? Your opinion with generated maps, vehicles and guns?
             - Maybe an overkill. I definitely can do it...
        - Make it a game mode? To build base....
    - Map selection by players and voting??
    - Comprehensive tutorials and instructions for players
    - Right click-aim system for guns (Good for laptops
    - Localized lighting for menu?
    - Importantly, I believe I can do everything on here, except perhaps the animations...
Development Issues/Things
    - Can probably get 3 studios slightly behind it....
        - Firelight, Zero Studios, and Mod Studio (Since I'm a member of all 3)
    - Want to make it a solo-project, (No group ownership, but support and most importantly IDEAS!)
    - Lag can be a major issue
    - Game may seem super overwhelming, but also super indepth
    - All guns will have the same system, so it should be easier (Same script)
    - Preferably, all vehicles will have the same controls, but highly unlikely
    - Won't skirt away from use of free models, but quality is key
    - All scripting will probably be done by me or I won't understand it.
    - The BIGGEST issue right now is doing animations.
        - Biggest issue in this is getting the arms to move when you point the gun at something, (Aim down the sights gun system), and still look natural.
        - Perhaps I should nuke the animations
        - Localize the arm animation look, and gun movement, and then make the player not be animated with the gun when in the server
             - Probably the best bet right now
             - Local parts may be killed at any time...
             - Can't find a nice mesh / arm system I really like though. Hmm..
    - ROBLOX Logo animation in existing place is a really big file
        - Possible to compress it
        - Not sure how to do this though... D:
    - Point system would be based on kills, time alive, a ton of other random stuff
    - Data persistence... (Saving)
        - But only one file per a player
            - Really hard to test datapersistence
            - Current system in game glitches, but I know why
- Vehicles
    - Land Vehicles?
        - Tanks
        - Jeep (With supply's for building bases, if building bases is allowed)?
        - Artillery unit. (Yes?)
        - Wingman8 style vehicles?
    - Water Vehicles
        - All the usual...
    - Air Vehicles
        - Jets
        - Planes... blimps, etc.
    - Spawn system for vehicles:
        - Probably set spawn locations in bases for different vehicle types
        - You pick your vehicle in a GUI menu (Or go without)
            - Most vehicles cost lots of money
            - But some vehicles, like a few boats, will have to be free so players can get to the opposite base
    - Strategic to have vehicles, definitely a plus
        - Very largish maps? I think so....
        - But small FPS sections where the fighting will be intense, with outside vehicles providing support
        - Specific points in maps that are strategic to the game...
            - Draw in FPS fights...
        - Should it be random? I think it should
            - Sufficiently good at generating landscapes with random stuff, but not cities
- Tycoon aspect
    - Invest points in better weapons and whatnot
        - Definitely keep it focused on fighting, so it's simple.
    - Maybe even lock up the gun selection until a player achieves a certain number of points they can use to buy it..
    - Every player for themselves in the tycoon system
    - Points aren't expended when buying something, so it's cummulative
    - But points can be spent on map selection?
    - Not sure how this will work out...
    - Very hard to get the very best
- Use ROBLOX's systems
    - Don't bother with pseudo tool system, etc (This hurts)
    - Remember game play is better than slick animations and fancy reloading techinques
    - keep a depth of gameplay

- Overall goals
    - Keep the game simple in concepts, but have a lot of slowly unlockable functions
    - Make the best guns, vehicles, and attack systems possible, as this is what drives the game
    - Have varying maps, game modes, and vehicles in each game, but use the same controls, and work the same way
    - Design a system easy to modify and add to.
    - Keep all the ideas in stuff I know how to do (WHY DID I THINK OF THE ANIMATION SYSTEM)?
    - FINISH THIS GAME!

My opinions:
- Base some off real life/have stats
I'm not a fan of this. But, if you're gonna do it, make all new guns side-grades (that is, not an upgrade or a downgrade, just different) and make it so players unlock guns over time (so that they're not overwhelmed by the number of choices they have initially).
- Vehicles
Make sure they don't have overpowered weapons, but don't make them just a way to get into battle. You can give them maybe grenade launchers mounted on the back, but make the explosion a non-lethal one. Make it do maybe 90 damage close up, and 30 damage 8 studs away. Also, you could make the grenade not explode in close quarters.
Also, make them fairly limited so your team only gets one jeep every 4 minutes, or so. They should be an asset that's worth protecting.

- Gameplay
- Several different types of maps, probably just not vehicles
- Randomly generated maps? Or Prebuilt maps? Or a combination???
- Land based
- Water Based
- Already exists in my current game...

Randomly generated maps are never that cool for ground-troops. They really only work for boats and cars. Definitely do prebuilt ones. People prefer seeing those like, 10x more.
I would do mostly land based maps. Having to swim across a lake to get to the enemy base will be annoying. You don't want people to spend most of their time getting to the front lines.
Air based one sounds like it could get annoying. Especially with airplanes raining in missiles.

As for the modes, I would do team-based games. Free for alls are not that fun. And when you do a free for all, you really have to design your map to handle tons of people taking defensive stances in random areas.

- Set about 50-100 years in the future. (Fun technology!)
MOST DEFINITELY! In fact, if you do this, make your guns cool! Don't make them boring and usual!

- Let players build bases? Your opinion with generated maps, vehicles and guns?
I think players would rather just fight. I would leave it out entirely. And this is coming from a guy who's working on a build to survive zombies game. :P

- Map selection by players and voting??
I would do this. Hopefully you won't have a map that sucks, but if you do, you don't want your players to have to play it.

I think destructible terrain (with explosives at least) would be a great way to attack someone else's base, or make a team's vehicke garage crash in on itself, blowing up the jeep inside filled with ammo crates.

just letting you know I found myself with a frozen mouse. I just played it I spawned in went through tools lifejacket got me stuck in spawn I reset then I couldn't move my mouse at all I had to use alt f4

May I suggest a slight change to the plan? Instead of having it be an FPS, maybe try for a top down shooter? Needless to say, this would be quite unique and would make many elements better or more interesting. Maybe this would be too big of a change though...

BTW, for the animation system, what are you trying to do? Are you trying for something like I have here: http://www.roblox.com/The-Magicians-place?id=291194? Or something else entirely?

Wow, I actually like the idea of a top-down shooter. You'd have to change the map so that everything is flat (or make bullets incredibly tall) but it would be very unique.

While this doesn't coincide with his project, it would be something that might be cool to see done.

FIRST MY MOUSE WAS FROZEN IN THE INTRO SO I CANT MOVE MY MOUSE TO THE EXIT BUTTON SO I HAZ TO GET THE CHARGER OUT AND THE BATTERY OUT. THATS NOT A GOOD WAY TO TURN MY LAPTOP OFF BUT ITS BECAUSE OF THE FROZEN MOUSE. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE DONT EVEN DO THAT ON YOUR GAMES WHERE THERES A FROZEN MOUSE THANK JOO.

Well,My opinion is here.I hope The game will add a transport boat with ammo crate and artilletry but no tanks or jeeps because no land connect and you possibly add the build base idea,But the base it builds is just like an mini tank with a radio which can says things to everyone in server or only your team and makes you only can chat to others close together or requiped a radio for it.
On the Techlongly part:
I suggest you add some vehichle upgardeable lilke making the vehichle better.E.Gblimp equip more weapon or higher defenese and I hope There is a anti-aircaft and boat turret which needs to be contorl by someone and can shot really super high and I hope you add a spy plane which flew higher thn any airvehichle except zepplin,but make the anti-aircaft guns can take it down so it will be better.

The first thing your game is lacking is speed.

Now I don't know if you want it to be slow-paced, but to me, a fast-paced game always fuels your adrenaline.

Making it fast-paced is easy; increasing speed of vehicles, and increasing your income, and maybe decreasing the costs?

Also, I like your GUI work. ;p

Oh, and don't forget your eyecandy. Possibly make it so that you automatically equip the lifejacket when you fall on water, instead of having it as a regular tool, (again, to make your game feel more 'professional'), and don't forget the parachute either.

Make an in-game menu so that you could easily switch your loadout and obtain the new loadout once you respawn.

Good game, however, it is just a little annoying waiting for quite a while to get anything.

However, it's a good game. My only other criticism is the guns. I think real guns would be good. Instead of Rocket Propelled Grenades.

You don't need to make the map flat, thats unrealistic. Uneven terrain can be used as cover.

I think, add radios on straps, so you can call out stuff by clicking your radio, type in message, press a button named `done` the radio will do a little sound if theres a message, also you should add like a scout vechile or jet or something, with a button to turn it invisible
