Roblox should make a new object that you insert in a brick (like fire, smoke, & sparkles) called Light and what light does is it changes the ambient of a set range in the map. When walking by a light, there will be a smooth gradient transition between the two.

It's customizable properties would be:

- Ambient
- Range
- Intensity
- Room Light
- Flicker

I will explain each property bellow.

Ambient:

Ambient would be what color is the light, this would be set using hex colors, exactly how you would set the colors for fire, smoke and sparkles. You can also have light that darkens the ambient instead. This entire feature is just something that changes the ambient, it's really a "light".

Range:

Range is how many studs from where the light is is affected by the light. So if you set the range for 20. Anything within a range of 20 studs from that brick would have the set ambient of the light. Anything which is not in range would have the regular ambient.

Intensity:

Intensity is how strong the light is. 0 being the minimum, 100 being maximum.
(0 would be like having the light off). This way you can have light that won't completely change the ambient but slightly affect the original ambient.

This way you can create light switches as well.

Room Light:

This would be a check box, if you check this, the light cannot pass through bricks. This way you can create a room, put a light in it and not have the ambient affected outside that room.

The light should be able to pass through transparent bricks.

Flicker:

This another check box. It would make the light flicker.

We've needed something like this for a very long time.

Unfortunately, gameplay and building doesn't seem to be very important to the admins, and hats are essential, so I doubt this will be coming any time soon.

Nice suggestion, BTW.

I think that instead of 100 being maximum, 1 should be maximum. Like most other things on roblox.

You can also create realistic fire with this!

For example, add fire into a brick, then add a light into the same brick, make the intensity to about 25%, turn flicker on there you have it! :)

You can also make it even more detailed by creating a script that changes it's intensity every second!
