Yeah nah that's not dynamic lighting. It's a relatively interesting and hacky facsimile, but it's not actual lighting. It's just changing a player's fog with local scripts based on distance from certain parts with the billboard GUI with your light texture image in them. |

nope aric.
as the scripter of the project i can tell you that 50% of what you just said is entirely false. this lighting system is as close to dynamic as you can get on roblox. however, it does not edit the fog in any way. also, dynamic lighting is nearly impossible in such a plane as roblox is, but we may release a new more realstic version to the public if this one runs smoothly. |

Yeah nah I'm pretty sure what I said explains it pretty properly. At least from what I know. I can't script on my own because I've never had time to learn but whatever. That looks a lot like fog. I know what the fog looks like. I've fiddled with it for hours because I'm half insane or something. |

since you seem to throw my factual evidence out the window, let me explain to you how it works.
The fog is at a constant distance of 100. As you get closer to "Lightsource" bricks, magnitude sends distance through an equation (which i will not disclose) that edits the opacity of a gui on your screen, which gives the illusion that the fog is shrinking (also the skybox is flat black); when in reality local fog DOES NOT EXIST. when you turn the night vision goggles on, it simply replaces equation in the lighting script with another, less sensitive one.
any questions? |
