What's your view on using physical assertion to 'teaching a lesson' to children?
I'm personally fully against it. |

You can't teach that hitting is wrong by hitting. You can't teach that yelling is wrong by yelling. A timeout or a talk with the child could do the trick if you do it right. |

If you teach him about obedience and discipline, then to a certain extent.
If you're teaching him about other things or he did something wrong, you can only correct him/warn him.

| if you use physical force to make a point, the chances are that victim is going to use physical forces to make his points. |

Well smacking them then telling them not to smack your little sister or big brother is nothing but hypocritical. |

As I said, it fully depends on what you're trying to teach him.
For example, if he is fully disobedient with you and never listens to you, then you have the right to physically smack so that he could teach him morals.

"then you have the right to physically smack so that he could teach him morals."
And what morals does spanking imply, exactly? |

None, really. Technically, all religions were started out as peaceful religions and morals. Then when their existence came under threat, they fought back. So I guess that most people, religious or not, resort to physical violence to teach discipline. |

You cannot teach discipline and obedience to an obedient, vulgar child who never listens to you, lies to you, swears at you. You can't just keep warning him and do nothing physical.

| morals are self-taught generally anyway, it is wrong to exert a physical force to enforce your morals upon somebody else. it is what the three jewels of monotheism are historically known for doing and it is ridiculous. |

you mean not obedient i am guessing - also there is usually a reason the child swears, doesn't listen or lies - either because they are having a bad upbringing (how did they learn those swear words to begin with?) they could even be mentally wrong. |

It's called having the wrong friends.

| and it's not always because they have the wrong friends, you can't know this for sure - your just going ahead and blaming other people now, sounds typical of somebody this outdated towards the modern world. |

| Usually a child follows his/her mother a lot more closely than his/her friends. In my opinion, being around friends that swear a lot wouldn't justify bad behaviour. Attitudinal problems could be a reason, as would be upbringing or personal depression. |

| There's also the possibility that they're being bullied at school or abused at home, even. For all the parents know, they could be on drawgs. |

I'm depressed sometimes, but it's usually because I isolate myself in my room either reading or playing Minecraft or ROBLOX, hardly see the light of day, and my family kind of lets me. I guess they think I have some kind of computer coding hobby, since they're all VERY THRILLED(sarcasm) about me learning how to use C++ or C# or Javascript or something. |

No, I meant the 'friends' influence him badly and he ends up thinking it's 'cool' to stand up to your parents and be ignorant.
It's not because of being abused at school or home, it's just that the power of influence and bandwagons are extremely powerful to teenagers who are mentally inclined to 'fit-in' into the group.

If the child has not been informed about NOT giving in to other people's deviations, then he/she should. After that, the solution is either;
find new friends adapt them to you |
