| Ok, on my dads laptop (i use his instead of mine) there was a google search hijack virus, i didn't want to get in trouble, so i try to fix it. I was lead to a program called "Combofix" there were strict rules and instructions, but i ignored them. When i started to scan with it, it said avg would infere with it, so i should disable it, didn't listen. Went on with the scan, after a while i came back and now i can't connect to the internet. I'm asking this on MY laptop. Please help, i will get in so much trouble if they find out about this. |

Get your Father. Downloading random things isn't going to help.

I can help. What operating system do you use?
Windows XP: Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Restore, then set it to the day before you broke it, problem solved! Windows Vista/Windows 7: Windows Logo>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore, then set it to the day before you broke it, problem solved! |

@indigo
S k y p e was running with no connection. What i'm asking is: If something is running in the background, does it affect the restore?
@AIRX
But i'll never be trusted with a computer ever again. Not only that, but my old slow laptop will be taken away, my phone will be taken away, and i'll be grounded from TV |

| Yes, it does affect the restore. Close S k y p e, if it only minimizes, right click S k y p e on the taskbar, and click close window. |

Right, thanks! I'll have to try that. Sorry to bother again, but, if you know, do you know how to disable Windows Mobility Center? It opens and like mutes my sound when i type. Very annoying. |

It said "The scan will continue. Please note this is at your own risk."
Did you do it in safe mode? |
