Give me a brief explanation on Socialism then, Katara. While we're on the subject, name a country that has had Socialism applied to it.

@Cr4ft, What's wrong with Socialism anyway?
I've just got back from berlin and when I was there I got the impression that life in east Germany was no way near as bad as it's made out to be.

---
Then you never had at least your parents living in East Germany.
Seriously, my parents lived in former Czechoslovakia (Which was a sattelite state of USSR, just like East Germany). Surely, they gave everyone a free house, a free car and made the community almost crimeless. But that was in cost of almost all political freedoms that they had. They also almost effed up the economy there, since Czechia is today 2 times poorer per capita than the poorest state in the USA (And that Czechia is the 2nd wealthiest per capita country in east europe). In some places they even built work camps similiar to the concentration camps in nahtzee Germany (My mother's father died there at age of 38). If someone publicly said something against their govement (which would mean that they said it in a bar), they sent that person to prison for some years.
I do assure you, unless you are homeless (And that I do not think since you have access to the internet), then you wouldn't prefer living in east germany. |

| Socialism is a system of government where all property is own by the federal state and the monetary funds earned by the state are divided equally by all men and women of the nation. That said, none of that occurs in the United States. Communism is the idea of a classless, moneyless society in which all men and women are created equally. I do not see how a system that involves dividing money and a system that involves null voiding money altogether can possibly coexist in a capitalist federal constitutional republic. |

Socialism is most broadly defined as the ownership by the proletariat of the three factors of production (inb4entrepreneurship). N0RUSSIAN's definition exists under the premise that the government is extremely democratic.
Communism is stateless. I do not see Obama dismantling the State. |

| Communism is a economical system where people are in a classless society and the wealth of the community is shared with everyone. The United States and Great Britain were offended because this system did away with private property and religion, but most of all, the Russian leaders boasted that it would soon be all over the world, or something like that (And with a size of around 25% of the land of the world at it's hight, it looked true for a while). |
