As we finally patch up and finish Borealis soon we have shifted our focus to a fort that would fair us better. While the tropical theme of the Borealis Islands was nice, I think everyone is ready for a change of pace this winter.
That is why I announce a fort that will be much more smoothly developed with the help of additional devs that shall soon be hired (In addition to our current devs, but most are being given breaks atm) it shall be very great.
This fort is known as Fort Cygnus - Ellynis Park.
This will take the place of Celeste III most likely.
This will improve upon Borealis in many ways, such as:
-Return to a "Fort" structure -Making a "raid" a "raid" again, Borealis was more of a "battle"
New features in Cygnus will include:
-New guns -Land vehicles like motorcycles -Improved air warfare -Balanced and well thought out map design -Gun Modding -Less lag if you had any for some reason at Borealis -Large, open map
Cygnus will make use of a new combat system. This will be the "Takeover" system.
Cygnus will be set in a large park in the middle of a city, much like Central Park in NY. The park will be huge. Some areas of the city will be accessible but most will not. The park will contain 3 bunkers and the main base, which will be built for combat (No celeste II chokepoints, woo!)
Since the city was built near a tundra, the park will be very golden and not as lush and green as Borealis. Imagine the Autumn forest in Skyrim or the entrance to Kun'Lai Summit in WoW: Mists of Pandaria.
Takeover System Explanation: -You will attack the outpost at each energy gate and obtain the SiD -SiD will be returned to your base -Upon capturing the SiD, you will begin "Datamining" -Datamining will give you "Security Credit" -Security Credits can be spent on opening gates, getting discounts or benefits for your team, or causing haywire like explosions or terminal shutdowns in the main base -Datamining will cease upon opening of a gate. You must capture the new SiD each time. RAT must uncap the enemy terminal to stop their Datamining. Staying on it longer will cause the enemy to lose points.
Gates stay open for 25 minutes. Might be adjusted.
To win, the enemies must get enough clearance to open the 3 gates, get into the base and take the terminal. Taking the terminal takes 5 minutes of standing near it, and any progress made will VERY SLOWLY go down if nobody is on it.
The upside of capturing in this fort from Borealis is that it is affected by quantity of people, in addition to not requiring you to be right on the terminal - it will be an area around it.
Fort Cygnus will hopefully work out better than Borealis. While Borealis in Beta was a success Cygnus will be even better and (less) complicated than Borealis. It will also make raiding a FAIR challenge instead of a pushover at Borealis.

Make sure its impossible to spawn camp please
that's a problem i've seen in most if not all of RAT's past forts.

Yup. Terminal is at a seperate point outside enemy base. They effectively have two bases: a fortified one we can't get into that they spawn in and a less secure one with the terminal. |

Makes me jitter.
My only problem is the possibility of it replacing Celeste.
So many memories... grey walls, turrets overlooking the raider spawn, blasting kids with the Lancers...
