This isn’t directed solely at one clan.
In this day and age, I feel as though clans members are too focused on getting what they believe is a “beneficial position” in a clan. I’m referring to the ongoing race between most low ranks to achieve a high ranking position. For the most part, I truly don’t believe that a lot of people really seek to benefit a clan as much as they want to simply fill their online ego a bit more. There are also those who do have good intentions, yet underestimate what high ranks actually have to do. It isn’t all about having admin commands at trainings/bases and being treated like a god at clan-related servers. There’s actually a good amount of work involved for most positions. I myself, have been taking the position for granted recently and have been slacking off on things that should’ve been done a long time ago. I do wish for my peoples’ forgiveness in that aspect, and I hope to find that drive within myself to get back to the work I need to do.
Back to the main point: those who are in a clan shouldn’t worry about what rank they are, but rather focus on how they can help benefit a clan from any rank. Yes, being a high rank does seem to give you more opportunities to “change” your clan and possibly influence other clans around it, but as long as you have a good amount of fingers to type, you’re capable of stating whatever your mind thinks. I know that when I was still the lowest rank in my clan, I gave help and advice to not only other low ranks above me, but a few high ranks themselves. Most high ranks aren’t meant to be scary or threatening, (well, I suppose that depends on what clan you’re in and what they represent.) which brings me to the point of...
Respect is a two way street. I understand that respect is meant to be given to a high rank naturally, but often what I see in return from the high rank being as blunt and sometimes as unfair as possible. This doesn’t turn out well for anyone, because let’s face it, most of us on this game are 10+, and we don’t enjoy to be yelled at when we’re doing something. What’s even more stupid is the fact that some pass off their constant “m/ *insert caps here*” as holding a “strict” training. Personally, I disagree with this. Strict trainings don’t really work in most clans, unless your clan is specifically made for such roleplay (VAK, for example.) Many clans are open to the public, which means anyone can join. It’s doubtful that everyone who joins a clan that’s open to the public joins it to be yelled at by high ranks with a bit of a power mongering-like attitude. It’s one of the main reasons why tensions exist between some high ranks and members, and that isn’t something that high ranks should be proud of.
The thing about ranks is that they aren't the only way to feel important or benefit a clan. Yet if one does have a rank of substantial power, then it should be used for benefiting the clan itself, not for feelings of personal pride or power. |

Which creates competition, which can ruin the fun and friendships that some have made over clans. I want people to become high ranks too; but not if everyone has to trample over one another to get there. |

| if people end friendships over ranks then they really shouldn't have been friends in the place because their friendship was obviously loosely established |

| Well written Locke. I do agree with corrupt though, those people wouldn't be real friends. Regardless, those relationships form anyways, competitive relationships between two people of the same rank. Rising tensions might be enough to make that relationship go sour, it happens. |

| Hmm...certainly agreeable sentiments, and things that can be seen around the clan world. I agree with you on the points of rank being irrelevant in service and that respect should be mutual. |
