@rich
but you don't have to stand for it
I'm pretty sure it is against the constitution to force you to stand for the flag
could be wrong |

| All you have to do to make teachers mad is point out a mistake that they made in a math calculation. Then disagree with their opinion. Unfortunately, that lands you in detention with the meanest teachers in school. |

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re a teacher, a student, a citizen, an administrator, or anyone else, it is beyond the power of the authority of government to compel the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance,”—U.S. District Judge Lewis Babcock
"In the 2006 Florida case Frazier v. Alexandre, No. 05-81142 (S.D. Fla. May 31, 2006) "A federal district court in Florida has ruled that a 1942 state law requiring students to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance violates the First and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution, even though the law allows students to opt out, because they can only do so with written parental permission and are still required to stand during the recitation. Cameron Frazier, a student at Boynton Beach High School, was removed from a class after he refused to follow his teacher's instructions to recite the Pledge or stand during recitation.""

It's also violation of the supposed freedom the country was built on. |

Well if you don't mean it, why should you say it?
Floodcheck should die. I want to kill it. Too bad it's not a physical entity. |

I don't see the purpose in standing for a flag
this empty symbolic act does not contribute anything to anybody |

I've never had to do a pledge of allegiance since I'm not American, but it seems rather disrespectful not to just at least stand for it. Your freedoms are protected because you are America, so, if you don't agree with your country, why don't you just go elsewhere instead of disrespectfully ignoring it? Then you can just face various persecutions.
Oh, and since this is a joking thread, yes, I'm sure that would make them mad. When a row of people ask to use the restroom at once, that as well makes teachers frustrated. :)
...or when people ask to use the bathroom and then go to a fast food outlet and get food... |

So I should show respect to laws set up hundreds of years ago? that sounds rather foolish to me
there is no purpose in "showing respect" to anything
trying to make us hail to some flag is pretty disrespectful to me, in my opinion |

Let's assume I don't WANT to say the Pledge. I will GLADLY stand, take off a hat if I'm wearing one, etc., but if I'm not American, or simply don't agree with the statements put forth in the Pledge, I would not want to say it. |

I think it's some kind of symbolic thing. I will GLADLY say the Pledge showing that I respect my country as a whole. Just... saying it to a flag would seem a bit... strange... |

"Century-old laws that have protected your freedoms, your ancestors' freedoms, and the American lifestyle for countless years, yes."
ok
"HAIL THESE LAWS, THESE LAWS THAT PROTECT THE FREEDOM THAT APPARENTLY DOES NOT APPLY HERE, WORSHIP MY ANCESTOR'S LIFESTYLE, THIS SURE IS MEANINGFUL"
unless you can give an actual reason to "show respect" to something inanimate or a concept, i won't do it |

| Well, the simplistic "ok" at least tells me you read and are mentally digesting what I posted. |
