Look it up, it's true, he said it would divide the nation, and frankly, he was right. That's the reason I am neither Republican nor Democrat, I do not define my political stance based on a political party, though I do agree more with Republican views, but I judge a candidate by their views, not their political party.
I am personally for Mitt Romney, he's not the best, but he would make a better president then Barack Obama in my view. |

| Does not make it right at all, Participatory for someone who claimed to fight for freedom, it's a peak of hypocrisy to own slaves in that situation. |

@The It was what was culturally moral at that time, it's like in 200 years from now, we may be looked upon as cruel for eating animals. |

@The Yes, to the British and the Loyalists it was culturally immoral, but in the eye of the Americans, it was justice. |

Yet it the eye of Americans it was fine to buy and sell human beings?
Scumbags, anti slavery movements existed back then, the fact is only Benjamin Franklin. was anti slavery of the founding fathers, the rest were just rich people who wanted less British taxes.

What does this have to do with his view on political parties? |

The fact is the Usa that exists now was not created by Washington, but by Lincoln, as he ended the barbaric slavery and rule by the rich system of the "fatcat fathers."
Funnily enough, of the famous founding fathers, the anti slavery one is the only one never elected President. |

Washington owned slaves because back then they were considered animals. In 300 years, lets asume Animals have equal rights, does that mean we were evil for owning them?
Sure, it doesnt make it right to own slaves, but people did not know any better then.
"Although Washington personally opposed the institution of slavery after the American Revolutionary War, as President he authorized emergency financial and military relief to French slave owners in Haiti in 1791 to suppress a slave rebellion"
He was against it, but did it anyways. It is odd, I know, but he was still for freedom.

Him not knowing better does not justify what he did. He owned slaves and I'm sure that the majority of the world would agree with me if I said owning a slave makes you a horrible person. ___ First of all, hi Arctic's alt
Now on to the post. The majority of the world believes it is wrong to be an Atheist (Count the Muslims, Christians, Hindus, ect), does that make it wrong to be an Atheist? 100 years ago we had no access to clean energy, so would you say it is "unjustifyable" to use coal? Nobody knew any better then. |
