ROBLOX has many forum boards already, not only for various topics related to Roblox (read: RT, C&G, LMAD), but for other things aswell such as Sports, Music, and Off topic, then even international boards such as WWC and Language Center.
I propose another board, a board where people well educated in various sciences and etc. could discuss things, a sort of coffee-shop type environment. I do not mean politics (This should be clearly defined in this board's rules, to prevent discussions that could lead to flame wars and etc.)
This could be a place for people who have better things to say than "lol i rode the bus 2day", but other than that would be Off-topic in regards to ROBLOX. Many people feel alienated in boards where most of the posts are just junk, and unrelated to the topic of the board's title. I.E. C&G, which is supposed to be a board about clans and guilds, which is often weighted down with such nonsensical things.
Some people may think "Well, what will keep this from becoming just like OT with it's 'i like potatos xD!!!' type of posts?" this leads me to my next point.
Volunteer forum moderators. As was stated earlier, most of the forums that are designed to be "serious" are a mess, with blatant rule violations wherever you look. As a solution, the ROBLOX team could start reviewing applications for volunteer forum moderators, for people who are above a certain threshold of posts, I.E. 2,000. A post threshold will ensure that the people not only know the forums, but it would also curtail fraudulent applications.
These volunteers could be given a trial period of two weeks, or more where any moderation action they take is subject to review by an actual moderator before it takes effect. After the trial period is over, a review could be done of their actions and how they have done in that time period to give a final verdict. At that point, several "grades" could be given. "Bad", which could be for people who blatantly abused their powers, at which point they could not submit another application until.. say, a year or so has passed, when they may have changed their attitude for the better. The other grades could be just generic, or non-existent altogether, just to ensure that abusers do not spam applications after being denied.
I see this as a good way to over-haul the ROBLOX forums for the better, attracting a more mature audience (who typically stay away from the forums, for the aforementioned reasons) to the forums, and increasing moderation to ensure that boards are actually used for what they are meant for.
Please post any feedback you may have about this, I will try to address any issues you may have with this idea in the replies.
-Epicrules
Summary: A new board for a more mature audience (Enforced grammar, perhaps? No more "i like bananas lololo!xD") and the introduction of volunteer forum moderators via application, whom would be subject to a trial basis before they could fully use their powers. |

I like the idea of this. It will be a relief to have a forum where there isn't any little kids who don't know how to spell you.
I also like the idea of the volunteer moderator. Although this might take some time to develop and may be confusing to many people as to what to do, to do what. It should also be based on how mature a person is and how serious they are with forums, because if a person had over 2k posts, there's no telling if all or even half of those posts are serious and not the "olol i liek pie!!!!!11" posts. So this could be put into more detailed thought I believe.

I do like this.
Although, I think that volunteer mods will act good for the trial period/won't report at all, and then will abuse power when they get to.
That's all I see of a flaw as of now. |

They tried and removed volunteer mods. Now you have to be 18Yo and they send you an invitation to be a Forum/Image mod. As for the idea in general; I'm rather... neutal.

Sisoftogatoga - Thank you for the input, and yes I do realize that not everyone who has 2000+ posts necessarily "genuinely" posted, but it also helps keep it from being impossibly too much work to sift through all of their posts. Perhaps something like a "Karma" system?
Coplox - I realize that, but perhaps they could still be watched rather closely until deemed trustworthy, and their title could be revoked at the first sign of abuse.
Jacob - Perhaps they could try it again? The forums need it badly. |

Meh. I'd prefer just having them the way they do. At least then there is less of a chance of screwing up.

They took volunteer mods away for several reason.
1.It was alot of paperwork.
2.They had to interviewed.
3.Not many people of legal working age would volunteer.
So volunteer mods.
As for the new forum board, yes. |

| Jacob, I read WNTS before I posted this, and I can safely say that this does not fall in to that category. |

Alright then; here.
The moderators are only human, and they can make mistakes in accidentally approving a moderator who they do not really want.
That "Accidentally approved moderator" could take some time to be noticed. During that time, (S)He could cause damage by banning people, locking/deleting posts(That are not against the rules), and even pinning spam. The system of volunteer moderators, when you stop and look deeply into it, is far too flawed for ROBLOX to attempt with even 8+ million players, let alone the current... what... 90+Mil players? I'm going to have to check the last player ID later, to get a more accurate #, but my point has been made.

I was off by quite a bit, I apologize for that. Anyways, they have 32,536,499+ players. Do you think a mere 10-20 community moderators could really accurately judge every one of those who sent an application?

| If you think in terms of a pyramid scheme, then yes. Aswell, a post threshold would ensure that not every newbie and his brother could submit an application. Although perhaps 2,000 was a bit low on my part. |

| No support. Can you imagine how many RT and OT idiots/trolls would troll? It would probably be filled with troll posts saying "lolz i h4te nubz" |

He has a good point.
The forum could have a rule along the lines of no trolling and you must use grammar.
Like if someone said something like "ogm u r al n0bs" they wouldn't be able to use that forum.
So basically the forum should be able to be locked to certain users that don't use grammar or troll.
