Many people point out that the Crusades is an evil thing and that Christian are evil etc. One other religion (Wicca, founded in the 1950s or 'revived' as they like to call it) says that they are the remnants of a Pagan religion wiped out (Some claim as many as a billion) during the dark ages by the Xtians (their word for Christians) however around 1,000 was the actual death toll and most was due to sickness or war.
Many others (Atheists mostly) claim that the crusades is a reason of 'Religion's evil' when in actuality the death toll of the Crusades pales in comparison to the death toll of many Communist dictators, who were in fact Atheists. The main leaders during their time were Castro, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot who led revolutions and purges in their country to eliminate their opposition (Political enemies, theists, etc.). However this does not stop most atheists from having a persecution complex.
Thank you for reading and please don't get offended because your all very nice people. :) |

The main reason you see more deaths from Atheist leaders is because (it's arguable, at least) that they don't have the morals that most common religions stress (even Islam has some morals, although the extremists ignore them and make Sharia law or w/e it's called their prime laws) and will kill people millions of people just to advance/secure their rank in society. It's quite pathetic, actually.
It kinda reminds me of Kautilya's Arthasastra or w/e it's called, a rulebook that he wrote for Chandragupta Maurya on how to maintain a massive empire. Basically, it had no morals and nothing was out of the question. He basically killed hundreds of thousands of people, expanded his empire and divided it into sections, then made sure people followed his laws.

"that they don't have the morals that most common religions stress" Exactly, and thats why when they use hypocritical arguments that say religion is bad, it's ridiculous. |

A writer of the Enlightenment.
Can't recall the one, though. |

"It is better for a ruler to be feared by the people, then loved."
It is better for a ruler to be loved by the people, rather than feared. Why? Look at Asoka (Chandragupta Maurya's son). The people loved him, respected him, and would do anything for him. Love and/or respect inspires people to do things they'd never do willingly, such as sacrifice their life for their ruler.
Example: I'd let our Congress get blown up and not do anything about it. They're really inept at their job. |
