| I think you aren't getting discussion for two reasons: 1, you didn't really start a discussion, so we don't see the post as off-topic, but we don't see anything to reply to. So we just don't say anything. And 2, because I think Scripters has had a few threads about this topic, and we don't want to talk about it any more. 1/0 is 'infinity.' Which describes a number of undetermined length or unending. It has no definite value. infinity is not 0. No number is higher or lower. It's not a determined number. Just don't divide anything by 0. |

e^(2*i*pi)=1 (F.orm of E.uler's i.dent.ity; search "e^(2*pi*i)" to see.) 2*i*pi=0 (N.atural l.ogarithm) i = 0 (D.ivide both s.ides by 2*pi) -1 = 0 (S.quare both s.ides)

So, why doesn't it work? Trying to figure it out before searching online it is recommended. Does anyone know of any words in this post which would trigger roblox's filter? I can't find any... (Posted in to sections)

You can't use the fact that ln(e^x) = x when the exponent x may be an imaginary number. In fact, you lose most nice identities of powers when you allow complex exponents and bases.
That's why you get a contradiction. |

1/1 = 1 1/0.5 = 2 1/0.25 = 4 1/0.125 = 8 (methinks)
Therefore, [insert HotThoth breeded with Monkey h44xxx calculation equation maths stuff here], 1/0 == Infinity |

| well dividing is multiplying with its multiplicative inverse, and 0 doesn't have one |

Calculus says infinity, Algebra says its impossible.

It's infinite.
1/0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 will just get a ridiculously large number - dividing by an even smaller number would mean a larger result.

Undefined.
Undefined: without fixed limits; indefinite in form, extent, or application
Infinity: something without limits: limitless time, space, or distance
Undefined matches it better than Infinity. "indefinite in form, extent, or application "

But undefined means it's nonexistant... infinite is just the largest value that can exist

But 2/0 is larger than 1/0 by infinity, so how can infinity be larger than any value?
You see, this is where maths gets strange.
Infinity is just a concept. Therefore, you COULD say that deviding by zero is impossible. |

2/0 and 1/0 will yield the same answer...
Just like 2*1 and 1*1.

| Dividing by zero is impossible. Zero will not go into any number any amount of times, therefore it is impossible and saying the answer is infinity is wrong. |

Is infinite impossible? In theory it exists but in reality it can't be achieved.

I would define infinity as "without an end". Irrational numbers have an infinite number of decimals.
But, thinking about it harder, infinity seems impossible. Everything comes to an end, nothing will go on forever.
Maybe ._. |
