| I'd like to help with the tutorials, but I'm not a writer anymore, so, instead, I decided to just maintain my own separate tutorial. |

| Maybe that's because the Wiki's scripting tutorials... aren't exactly of the highest quality. Just speculation, akin to you're little percentage there. |

| And THAT'S the problem! All the wiki writers keep creating more and more beginner scripting tutorials without working on a single, unified scripting tutorial. This is a team effort. Everyone keeps ignoring everyone else and creates beginner scripting tutorials, shortly after discontinuing work on them. |

@Tenal
I started my own because all the others except Crazyman32's (which is very incomplete) were horrible. Considering I wanted to organize it in a completely different way than all the others, I couldn't just have contributed to another.
Mine is going pretty well right now.
Of course, if I was a wiki writer again, then I guess it'd help the wiki a lot. But, heh, for now, I'm doing as good as I can try to with forum threads and my personal website. |

I never said anything against what you're saying right now. But the main problem is that people keep creating more and more beginning scripting tutorials. Why don't people just add onto the already existing beginner tutorial?
I've seriously lost all faith in the wiki, and I'm going to have to throw my weight behind Roblide and its future website for scripting tutorials. |

Wait.. I said crazyman32? I meant crazypotato... wait, how in the world did I make this mistake? >_>
@Tenal
Throwing your efforts into another project will probably not help. However, it might be interesting to get the ROBLOX Wikia into something somewhat decent. Currently, it's horrible; what about making it become a decent wiki? |

Actually, Tenal is entirely right in this case. The wiki has a serious problem with tutorials. In fact, it has a serious problem with documentation too... |

I don't like when people use the
Fact: statement that isn't based in fact
I guarantee that 99% is not a real fact. Don't list it as one. That's retarded T_T |

Oh, wasn't talking about that. I was talking about the fact that the tutorials need to be improved. |

@aboy The title was obviously sarcastic. My point is that the wiki staff focuses too much on documenting every single possible property. Pretty much every visitor of the wiki visits not to look at those properties but to learn how to script. That is one point that nobody understands. I repeatedly tell everyone about this but no action seems to be made.
@Julien My current vision is to get Roblide working. The reason why I want it created is because the our expectations of the current Studio IDE has dipped into an all-time low. I'm going to be serious here - I've been, for a long time, afraid to rename an .rbxl file because it might break. That's pretty sad. Even Studio 2.0 seems to have many flaws, and I think the developers are rolling it out way too early. I also dislike the fact that in it, they use Windows XP icons (the X button on the tabs) and the toolbar buttons aren't very pretty. Not just that - the functionality of it seems to be lacking. I once copied a large part when I was above it, thinking that the camera would refocus when pasted. Instead, it didn't do that, and I was thinking that it didn't paste. So, I ended up moving my camera seeing a bunch of objects stacked up together.
Once Roblide is done, here would be my job: I'm a web designer. I'd be the one creating wiki tutorials to accompany Roblide. This can be a major turning point on the success of Roblide; people would effectively learn scripting and learn their way around the Roblide software while discovering the intuitiveness of it and laughing at how poor Studio, a software run by professional game developers, is. |

Making a studio as good as ROBLOX's isn't easy. Our original intent was only to create what was strictly necessary to make places, that is, excluding a 3D view.
Considering ROBLOX is about to be released on Linux and already got released on Mac OS X, I'm personally mostly happy. |

@Legend26 The wiki is a team effort. Me working alone would just be another useless beginner scripting tutorial just thrown out there. |

Yes, I do. They have managed to port it to Mac OS X, and this clearly demonstrates that it is almost ready to work on Linux. |

I just said it. People documenting properties that nobody cares about. Another problem that comes to mind is the fact that developers and wiki writer communication is zero. Devs keep posting tutorials on the blog. They NEVER discuss with wiki writers anything they want created; they just make their own mashed up tutorial. |

Well, reesemcblox does communicate with the wiki writers. I have to agree that there is a lack of communication between devs and wiki writers and that if we had more communication, we could faster fix issues like getting the ParserFunctions extension (getting that extension is actually pretty much the thing we need the most for the wiki).
The change log and, as of recently, the API dumps, are being of great use, not to the wiki, unfortunately, but to the users (I've myself taught many users about the existence of these). It allows us, the power users of ROBLOX, to learn about new features faster and therefore spread them faster over ROBLOX and allows wiki writers to perform minor changes on documentation.
Another thing we definitely need is a COMPLETE rewrite of the object system from scratch. |

Documentation is actually important too.
Documenting obscure things like settings is important because it allows users to learn more about these obscure things.
Documenting non-obscure and common things is important too because, well, these things are common, and therefore, users might frequently need help on them.
I can't think of any language, any library or any API that is very widely used and doesn't have a documentation. ROBLOX needs one too.
However, we also need tutorials. |
