@Vincent

Take two pieces of rope. Tie two knots in them. To add them together you would have to tie a new knot, which makes 5 knots. As that knot was not part of the equation, but a product of it, it does not make the equation 2+2+1, but it stays as 2+2. Thus, 2+2=5.

ok so lets say you have 2 cookies. you eat those two cookies and now you have two cookies in your tummy k? so then your mom gives you two more cookies. you eat one out of two of your cookies and now you have 3 cookies in your tummy. then later you take out your last cookie. you eat your last cookie and that means that now you have 4 cookies in your tummy. so yes is 4.

The calculator isn't able to process it correctly. You can't tie a knot in a calculator, can you?

But conventional, written math does not include ropes or knots.
Your argument is invalid.
And the extra knot you had to tie is unrelated to the question, but is rather a matter of bonding the ropes.

Err... Did I not just prove it? Note how I did not say in all circumstances the sum was 5.

@fruit

Not all math, be it conventional or not, is written. If you are adding the ropes together it is math, thus making it relevant to my argument.

So, by your logic, 2 + 2 = 5, which means that, as potato said...

If 2 + 2 = 5

And 5 - 2 = 3

And 3 + 2 = 5

Then 3 + 2 = 2 + 2

But, on the contrary, 2 + 2 does not equal 2 + 3

Thus, proving your statement invalid.

"But, on the contrary, 2 + 2 does not equal 2 + 3"

That doesn't prove me wrong, that's simply stating something that is true. I never once said that it equaled 2+3. I even specifically said that it was still 2+2. Did you even bother reading my argument? Anyways, I'm going to go play Mount & Blade now. Farewell.
