You should all know my background; Born in Jamaica and relocated to the U.S. shortly after childhood... all that good stuff... Well, the place I was relocated to is somewhere in what we call "The Bible Belt". As a Rastafarian, people were constantly trying to convert me to Christianity. I like the religion (or Jesus Christ, I should say) because it always talked about love and forgiveness. That was a great vibe. Now, here's what frustrated me. I would always run into these people who would all make statements very similar to, "We don't need to force our religion on people. We just need to show them the love of Jesus Christ so that they join us." Those people would NOT stop trying to convert me. Here's what I pointed out to them:
-I always try my best to treat others with love and respect. -I like to practice forgiveness. -I like to invest my time in helping others and be an all around nice guy.
These are the things they told me to do, and they were things I was already doing before I learned much about the religion. However, the one thing I didn't do was verbally announce my "membership." No matter how much love and forgiveness I spouted out, they were still very angry with me because of that reason. I did not understand it at all. Why can't I just be a nice person without saying that I have conformed to your religion?

Thats why im not a huge fan of established religion.
In my eyes, a lot of people that do this type of thing, confuse God with religion. |

| Thanks why my church makes a point out of excepting people rejected from other churches because they weren't "good enough" I agree. |

I'm not getting much into religion. I don't talk about religion, either, and treat it like the taboo that it is where I live. If I even say something as simple as "I don't go to church" or "I don't believe that I need to go to church to remain a person of god," I will get yelled at with "Then you're going to hell (giggle giggle)." Worst part is that I just live in Iowa, not even Alabama, or Ohio.
Religion can kiss my but for all I care, because Christianity is a lie, just a big banner of waving propaganda calling all to the cullt. Peace and acceptance is a lie. This idea that God loves us all has been stabbed by the religious murderers and martyrs, since if I don't pretend to follow this true vision of a christian, I will be yelled at that I'm going to hell.
Christianity is again not accepting because of all the wars it's caused. Religious crusades, and battles, such as Christians vs Muslims. I was thinking about looking into more foreign religions, and looking for one that's actually filled with good morals that are followed in the people, and incouraged. |

Only dumb and evil people need the promise of eternal paradise to do good deeds in their life.
There, I said it. |

| And that justifies the murder of over a 100 million people in various totalitarian states? |

As it is stated in my original post, I tried to do all those nice things before even being introduced to Christianity. I always thought it was good to be loving and forgiving even without knowing what that religion was because it's a general idea of being nice so that others don't see you as a bad person. Nothing religious about it in my case. Sure, I was Rastafarian due to being raised in my home culture, but the morals in that were mainly just to stand up for social justice and such.
I know plenty of loving and forgiving atheists, along with many very rude and heartless theists. Generalization is not the key to this door. |

@Magno
You know nothing about Christianity. You are promised eternal paradise for believing in Jesus, and doing good deeds just helps you. You are actually told to do good deeds for nothing in return and doing it to stay away from hell is the wrong way.

Pit, I've asked most Christians that I meet the same question on that topic, and I always get different answers:
In your religion, can people obtain eternal paradise if they are extremely morally corrupt yet accept your lord and savior? Example:
-A serial killer who gets paradise because he is a Christian and has accepted Christ as his lord and savior. While, on the other hand, a person who spends their entire life helping others, being very loving, kind, and forgiving, goes to Hell because they do not accept Christ as their lord and savior. |

Here is how I see it.
That serial killer, that has excepted Jesus, is in the most need of Jesus to save him. He may not know it, but he does.
That person that dedicated himself to the need of others does not need him, even he does't know it. |

But killing is against the 10 commandments or something.
They did something terrible. They don't deserve eternal paradise. |

You seem to not know that not doing good deeds=\=sinning. Sinning mortally is bad and will not get you eternal paradise unless you ask for forgiveness with meaning. Asking for forgiveness and doing it again has no meaning. S if you don't do good deeds, it will not necessarily get you to hell, but mortal sinning constantly will have you punished. The serial killer will not get eternal paradise.
Now for the man who does good deeds. If he knows about Jesus and has been told about him, but denies Jesus, he will be punished sadly. However, if he is nt Christian because he does not know of Jesus, he will get a small punishment and then go to eternal paradise.

Both of which, will go to heaven.
That serial killer, who needs him will finally get the love from Jesus.
And that other guy did good works, but might not get to see Jesus that much because he was not in (spiritual) need.
A relative told me this. A priest and a Taxi driver went to heaven. the Priest got a silver house, and the taxi driver god a gold house.
The Priest said; "Why do I get the silver house, I preached the the Bible every week"
Then God said; "Well, when ever you preached in church, everyone snored. But when the taxi driver speeded down the highway, everyone prayed." |

Scratch that.
The serial killer will get a punishment of purgatory, so will the man who did the deeds.

- fine, i'm going to mur der you and pepper (Trust me it'll be a benifit to humanity) then pray, accept jesus and all that stupidty, and then go on and get rewarded.
MAKES PERFECT SENSE!
Or, I could be a total philanthropist, a forgiving revolutionary, a visionary, live on nothing, love everyone, be atheist and suffer eternal punishment because...?
