The ultimate ROBLOX RPG is coming!
"A lost cause... There is nothing left we can do. They have taken over..." Gregory sighed. Then, a man sittting alone in the corner of the restaurant rose and drew a long, thin sword. "Not yet."
Crash! The two swords collided. One sword was obviously stronger than the other. It was huge, with rune symbols all across the blade, wich enchanted the sword. The Dark Ruler laughed. "It's over for you, hero." The hero had a flashback of when he decided to take up the legendary task of facing the Dark Ruler and said what seemed to be his two favourite words: "Not yet..." He stood up. As he aproached the Dark Ruler, his foe struck, it was over...
Legend says that the hero turned to dust, but his spirit roams the world, searching for the one who he could pass the baton to. Somebody who would take his place. Somebody to save the world. Legends also tell us that apparently, The Dark Ruler's almighty blade is actually one of three, and it will take the other two to defeat him.
You believe that you are the one. The next generation. The next champion. Scratch that. The FIRST champion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, my mission is to create the best RPG on ROBLOX! The next generation. There will be different races, classes, monsters and quests. You will be able to save your progress, duel against other players in the arena, and discover the last 2 Runic Blades!
Now for questions! Answer them so we can make my game stand out!
What makes a good RPG?
What do most RPGs not have but you think should have?
Have you ever thought 'This RPG is almost perfect but it needs...'? If so, what does it need?
Is there anything that RPGs could do without?
I want to make the best RPG on ROBLOX, the next generation. It will have different races, classes, quests, monsters, the lot. So come on! Answer the questions, give ideas and together we will make the best MMORPG on ROBLOX!
It would also be nice if you made some stuff for me to help contribute, but that's not your job. |

Also, the story line lacks room for twists and turns, as well a a few components of proper story structure... Not to mention a tad cliche.
Sorry, I just wasn't very exited after reading it. |

I've listed some things I believe RPG games should have but don't.
1. Player Made Weapons: Most weapons players use in their RPG's are meshes of already existing weapons from the catalog but I feel you would have a wider variety of weapons if you make them brick by brick but since that would take very long some meshes would be good.
2. Wider Variety of Weapons: Most weapons people use are mostly swords, bows, and staves, I think you should use weapons such as battle axes, crossbows, daggers, war hammers, wands, morning stars, and more. Some daggers should be able to be poisoned and there should be an option to put an item in you second hand (shield or a second dagger).
3. Longer Quests: Most quests are to kill a certain amount of enemies but I think a quest would be better if it involved killing enemies, talking to people, and doing certain tasks.
4. Longer Game Play: Most RPG's involve a very short time period of play that is always spent killing monsters there should be tons of monsters to kill.
5. More Skills: In most RPG's their is a lack of skills and most are strength, magic, ranged, and health level, I think their should be skills like farming, mining, smithing, wood cutting, firemaking, fishing, cooking, and more.
This list could go on for a while but to sum it up play some RPG style games and take tips from them, games like skyrim (PS3, X-Box, PC), runescape (Online MMORPG), and others. I also with you luck in making this RPG I don't expect you to use all my ideas but use some please. |

A list of things That RPG's should have but most don't
-Players are able to gather materials andcraft a weapon such as:Venom Enforced Batlle Axe,Scorching Hot Fire Katana.
-Also monsters should be able to drop weapons and armor on occasion, not just gold and XP. The names should be new and exiting to the weapons aswell.
-Daggers should do more damage than a sword when crafted.Treasure chests that contain gold, weapons, and armor shoudl be used aswell
-cutscenes should be added and they should have other characters you meet along your journey, they should be able to talk without using the question mark above head script -Hunger and thirst script. Players need to be able to survive from food and luquids aswell.
-Quests that reward you with armor, weapons, and gold.
-And to sum this list up is the PvP arena.Players should be able to test their skills against others. If the players die you are rewarded with XP.

| Also ninja, to reply to your first post: How many other RPGs have storys? I think that the stroy would be considered a flaw. I also have ideas for sequals and such for the story to develop a lot. |

Actually, all those other RPGs without a storyline are less an RPG, and more a creature hunt.
And I'm not saying the story is a flaw, I'm saying that it lacks story structure, and you should consider revising it.
Storys need to have a begining, rising action, plateau, rising action (Plateau, rising action, repeat depending on story), climax, falling action, end.
Right now you only have a rising action (A good rising action, I might add, but still only a rising action), as the line "A lost cause... There is nothing left we can do. They have taken over..." proves that. So it needs an introduction. We as the audience shouldn't have to guess.
And I did not take an English course and Creative Writing course to be told other-wise. Of course there are exceptions to these rules as writers find them, but for this there shouldn't be. |

The story is supposed to be a mystery. What makes you think that I have to tell you every detail. You need to find out more throughout the game. Basically, all the player knows is this (See if you prefer it):
A mysterious man who calls himself The Dark Ruler is plunging the world into darkness. Hurting people. Killing people. One group of people who call themselves the Lionheart Rebellion rose against him, and thier newest recruit, Lucas, was the closest to ever defeat him.
But he didn't. He died like the rest. And now you must take his place.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is pretty much what my intro was going on about, but this has more detail. That was the idea. It wasn't a story. That's what you don't understand. The above is a story. Sort of. What I posted was merely an introduction. It was supposed to be a mystery, and you would learn more about the people talking in the beggining through the game. By leaving parts of the story out, it can make the game more effective, in my opinion.
I haven't taken any courses. I'm still in school. But that's my opinion. |

There we go! Now *that's* an introduction! Kudos, you nailed it.
As you can see, you don't need to tell the entire story. You can still hide a large majority of the story itself. So long as you give an outline, such as what it happening, the cause and affect or sorts, that's all readers need to "be on board" with your storyline.
All in that paragraph it told me:
-An epic of Good vs Evil -The Dark Ruler and the Lionheart Rebels are major characters/factions. -Evil has defeated the Good -The player starts in a defeated world -The player now has to make Good defeat Evil as the main "quest" of sorts (Maybe? I don't even know, which is the beauty of it)
^ That. That is the foundation of a storyline. And all it took was a few more details, evens and characters. If you knew how to outline a Greek Tragedy, you could use a little more plot twists to really make the players second guess even their closest friends.
Kudos to you. |

I am reading all ideas! Here is the plan of the RPG:
This RPG is for the people of ROBLOX. You ever played an RPG and it has only ONE BIG FLAW? Fixing that is my idea. So post, post, post! |
