1. Liquid -When the atoms are moving so quickly they slide past each other, but not fast enough to break apart on their own.
2. Solid -When the atoms are moving slow enough to maintain connected with one another in a definite shape.
3. Gas -When the atoms are moving so fast they flow freely away from each other.
4. Plasma -When particles in the substance become ionized.
5. BEC -When a dilute gas is cooled to near 0°K and a large fraction of the bosons occupy the lowest quantum state.
