An enormous problem within the game design industry is producing a game that is friendly to a wider scope of players.
If we look at the front page, we can easily tell that players like in order of popularity:
1. Thrillers
2. Roleplaying Games / Combat
3. Apocalyptic Themes
4. Simulation
5. Strategy
If we narrow down the gender factor:
Males:
1. Combat
2. Apocalyptic Themes
3. Simulation
4. Strategy
BRING ON THE GORE!
Females:
1. Roleplaying Games
2. Hangouts
They live on that social networking website...
Unigender:
1. Thrillers
2. Roleplaying Games
From these results we can understand that:
A good game must combine both action and social skills in order to attract all audiences.
Now exactly what kind of games would attract the widest audience? Please post your ideas/criticisms on this thread. Thank you for actually reading this. |

| @above, he's got a point it's time to think out of the box to attract a wider audience. but how? this will be more difficult- roblox is mostly built by males, played by males and enjoyed by males how do we attract a wider audience? this will be helpful both to roblox and to it's individual players. we must come up with a solution. |

| @Jelly, That is extremely often true, but originality in itself does not make a game more amusing. |

Why are you bringing the game design industry into this? And then you are going straight into the frontpage of roblox. Give us some examples of games from the "game design industry" that are "friendly to a wider scope of players", to support your point.
This is Roblox, games are designed by teens and pre-teens. Expecting masterpieces of design is a bit too much, especially since you don't get paid real money for making games on Roblox, unlike in the game design industry.
And if you want a game that everyone can enjoy based on your formula, combine all the genres listed, and you get yourself what you are looking for. |

Combining all genres is NOT what I'm looking for, and can make terrible games which are only popular due to the massive amounts of juvenile delinquents on the internet. |

Precisely, all genres in 1 game will not make a good game. Therefore some genres must be left out, causing the invention of ultimate formula to make the game enjoyable by everyone an impossible feat. There will always be audiences left out, its inevitable.
And why won't you reply to all the questions I asked, and not just the weakest one? |

Didn't you just answer your question? What kind of answer are you looking for?
The best type, in my opinion, of game that appeals to the largest scope of audience is MMORPG, there is action and there are plenty of social aspects as well. However, this is Roblox, every game is essentially an MMO, but no real RPGs have been made here just yet.
To quote myself from another thread: "An RPG should have roleplay, hence Role Playing Game. So the standard is not high. However, grind is the aspect that seems to identify a Roblox RPG from any other genre. If a Roblox game has grind, then it's supposedly worthy of the RPG title. Roleplay and story is forgotten - the core of what an RPG is."
Therefore, the MMO aspect is present, but the RPG part is missing. Add RPG and your problem is solved.

I agree with you upon the roleplaying aspect, but the game must fully support roleplaying in its mechanics rather than:
"ZOMG I KILLZ EBERYONE IN TEH GAME DUE TO TEH UBAH-LIGHTNIN STWIKE!"
For as you can see, this nearly always happens in roleplaying games. |

That's a very accurate depiction of an RPG player, I'm sure. Make sure to distinguish between Roblox RPGs and PC/Console RPGs when you are mentioning them. Since they are quite different, the Roblox versions being highly inferior to the latter. |

| Yes, but you still get the idiots. That's why roleplaying functions must be built into the game mechanics. |

| All true. If you've noticed, apart from the free modeled games on the front page and the jv4 crap, we have a lot of popular shooters and apocalypse role plays. If you go farther, you see the role playing games for the girls and the rest of the shooters and RPG's left out from the front page. The issue we commonly have with game production is aiming it at an AGE group. Too mature, loose the majority of kid players. Too immature, lose the teenagers and preteens. And it's extremely hard to get inbetween. |
