These are suggestions that I've accumulated over the last few months of playing on ROBLOX. I have divided them into categories so they can be more easily browsed.
These are not just top-voted suggestions, these are suggestions that are: 1) Viable - The staff wouldn't have to spend excessive amounts of time developing them 2) Needed - Features that a majority of the users of the site would use, not just a small percentage. 3) Minimalistic - There are already so many features and pages on ROBLOX that I don't want to contribute to bloating the site. I have left out many ideas that users can script on their own in Lua like an afk system or an item testing place, as well as redundant features.
If you reply to support an idea or not to support one, please give your logic behind it. Don't just say "adjustable volume" is a dumb idea, explain how it is not a necessary feature or why you think it shouldn't be added.
Chances are you have suggested one of the following ideas. I did not come up with most of these on my own, I've gathered them over a few months from the areas I've seen in the site that are lacking. My goal is to refine this list and then send it as a letter to the administrators, or bring it there in person if I end up becoming an intern.
■▬Site Suggestions▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
▬ Clickable Site Links ▬ Make all official roblox.com links in the forums or in descriptions of assets be clickable . Users will be less confused about what links are legitimate ROBLOX pages and which are fake. Also it would be much easier for little kids to navigate around. Selecting a URL is tricky in order to copy and paste it is difficult for younger users. This would also have the bonus affect of reducing phishing site scams, since you could make a blanket rule of "If it's not a clickable link, report it."
▬ Group Wall Spam ▬ Limit the number of times a user can post on a group wall with a floodcheck, and create a method of deleting all of a user's wall post even if the user has left the group. This is currently a problem since spammers can join a group, post a few hundred wall posts, and leave. The option to delete all the user's posts only appears if the user is still in the group.
▬ Stand-alone Friend Page▬ Instead of having friend requests on your profile, have a separate "friends" page for managing your friends. It should feature a search bar so you can search through your friends. Having the friend requests on the Profile page is very awkward and out of place.
▬ Phantom Unread Messages ▬ Archiving a message should automatically mark it as read so that it doesn't appear as an unread message in your inbox. If a person is archiving a message, it's intuitive that he doesn't want to read it. Having phantom unread messages could frustrate younger users, who would have no idea how to read the message, or how to find it.
▬ Inbox Search ▬ Add a method of searching through your inbox for specific phrases or words, or for messages from specified users. This would be an extremely useful feature for many users, oftentimes you remember someone sending you a message and you need to dig it up, but going through page by page to search for it takes too much time, especially when you have dozens of pages of messages.
▬ Version History Thumbnails▬ Along with displaying the version number and the date when you are reverting to a previous version of an asset, display a thumbnail of the asset. This would be extremely helpful for when users are trying to revert to a specific old version of their place.
▬ No One Follow Me ▬ Even when the "Who can follow me" value on a user's account page is set to No one, another user viewing their profile will see the name/link of the game that user is playing. Instead, the user should merely appear as Online: Website. Would help admins and community managers get a more accurate reading of the community when they visit games.
▬ Asset Descriptions Chopping ▬ Right now the descriptions of assets are cut off short even if there is plenty of space on the page to display the entire description. The "See More" button should only appear if the description is too long to fit in the space already. I often visit an asset page and the description is chopped off after only a few words, even though there is a huge amount of extra space for the description.
▬ Forum Rules Redo ▬ Currently the forum rules are a mess. Each forum should have one thread detailing that forum's specific rules, with a link at the very top to the "Global Forum Rules" that apply to all forums. The global forum rules should be a web page, not a forum thread, so that they can be edited at will. An example of why this is needed is the 1-line signature rule, which is only found in Clans & Guilds, yet applies to all forums.
■▬Client Suggestions▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
▬ Adjustable Volume▬ An icon with a slider to control the sound volume. Many users listen to music or watch something while they are in a game, and not being able to adjust ROBLOX's volume is extremely annoying.
▬ XML Optimization ▬ Do not serialize properties if the value of the property is the default for that instance. Would dramatically reduce filesize of saved .rbxm files and reduce space wasted on the server as well as improve upload times. The only downside is that changing the default value of a property could break scripts, but the developers should never change the default property of an instance because it would break scripts that use Instance.new to instantiate an object. |

They also need a search bar in your hats, pants, shirts, tshirts, decals, places, gear, faces, bodys, and heads

| I haven't read all of these suggestions yet (don't worry, I'll get to it), but I see an issue with clickable links. This would make it much easier for people to spam for their place, which is already an issue. |

| @bovine123 Place creators would have the option to disable links in comments. |

| Actually that's a very good point. I'll have to think about that. Maybe this could tie in with the reputation system - links would only be clickable if the user had a high reputation. People would downvote the reputation of spammers. |

Floodcheck for group walls: I support; would reduce spam.
Friend search bar: Support; would be helpful.
Phantom unread messages: I support this; when you archive a message it should be marked as read.
Inbox search: Support as well (I'm noticing a theme here)
Version history thumbnails: Support; would make it easier to find which version you wanted.
No one follow me: Support.
Forum rules redo: Support.
Asset descriptions chopping: Support, it shouldn't show the see more button if it's cut off by 3 words or less, but you have to make the limit somewhere, I guess.
Adjustable volume: Support, even though I usually just listen to music on my ipod when playing games.
XML Optimization: Support. |

And I made a revised respect system thread here if you want to read it:

"This would make it much easier for people to spam for their place, which is already an issue."
They can already post of their link the same amount of time as the clickable link. I don't see how this would make it easier to spam. |

@Zebra
"I don't see how it would be easier to spam."
It's much, much, easier to just click on a link than to have to copy and paste it into the URL bar. |

| This wouldn't increase the amount of spam by much, it would only increase the amount of players would click on the spam link. Making this feature would do much more good than harm, since there's always bound to be spam. |

| Yeah, having clickable links would make it a lot easier for spammers to get users to visit their places. Conversely, it would make it a lot harder for account scammers to get people to visit phishing sites. I'm sure the admins could work something out to reduce link spam, like only showing clickable links if the user has a somewhat high reputation, and the account is more than a few days old. |

| Or, they can make it so it disables the clickable links if it's a link to a place (only for comments). |

| Good point Zebra. That reminds me, to avoid people making links named something that actually go to something else, the clickable link should automatically update the name given in the URL to match the real assets. This could be easily implemented with a javascript that sends a request that returns information about the link such as the assetType and assetCreator. |
