I installed a version of Linux on my Wii called Whiite, and then I plugged my Wii into the router, port-forwarded the router, and now I am hosting my website on my Wii through my IP address.
So if you type in my IP in the URL bar, and the correct port number, you can see my website. I programmed the server in Python. It's all Python.
Oh, and I don't know if I should give you the port and IP. I heard somewhere that it could be dangerous to share that. |

How did you install it? Skiddie way? Not sure how you can do all this and not know about the basics of the Internet. Also, the port is 80 or it isn't a website. Nao, make yourself useful and modify Linux to fit into 7mb, for 65186 architectures. |

@chick
>How did you install it? ... I didn't install anything. I created the server using Python, as long as I'm running my Python code, the server will run on my internal IP. And then I used an IP-forward with my router to make it so people who go to my external IP at the correct port will see what's hosted on my internal IP.
>Not sure how you can do all this and not know about the basics of the Internet. I do know the basics of the internet.
>Also, the port is 80 or it isn't a website. No, websites have as many ports as you want. Port 80 is just the main one.
I did not host on port 80 for security issues and vendor issues. My internet service providers might get PO'd if I actually started using port 80.

| Sharing your IP is potentially dangerous if you're sharing it to "tech-savvy" people. Luckily, you're on those forum and you decrease the overall ratio of "tech-savvy" people to idiots. |

@NikB I never even said that. -.-
@Pre That is most likely your default gateway. That's not your IP address. You need to know the difference between your internal IP, your default gateway IP, and your external IP.
@Tech It's not unsafe to share your regular home IP. I'm talking about sharing your IP if you are hosting a server on it from your computer, then some people say it could be potentially dangerous.
@NikB lol, localhost.
Anyways, I changed it to port 80 and got a domain for it. But I still am not aloud to share offsite links, so... .-. |

Actually, it is.
Your router could be knocked off line by DDoS attempts. |

@techboy I actually have a part on my router's dashboard called "protect from DDoS attacks?"
But it's disabled. |

I'm going to teach you people who didn't know this already something. As soon has you give out your IP, they can connect to your modem, then go to your hub and probe every system not secured by a lock of some kind (yes, yes it sounds like uplink, but this is used IRL too). In big faculties, it (the lock) is generally an analogue input. |
