I had posted this on another forum, but, I figured it would only be read by like 4 people... Considering it's a dime a dozen thread, than half of the forum will ignore. (How many top clan leader threads do we need?)

So, without further ado, I present some insight on what make a clan owner a good clan owner:

"Leadership is one of the most complicated things there is. I've studied it multiple times in the past, and you will get an abundance of traits. I guess you can simply put a good leader as someone who cares about their followers, works for the benefit of the group, and who has the natural charisma needed to inspire followers to follow the leader.

http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=48127387

That thread lists some important traits regarding leadership, but there are probably a 100 different traits that would make a great leader. You don't need to be born a leader, and a follower can rise to the occasion, making followers more important than leaders. If the leader falls, someone can replace him. Who is going to replace the followers?

Of course the leader is important, but in the end, if one were to be more important than the other, the followers would take the cake. Otherwise, they are about equally important. (This is of course an opinion, but it can be supported with facts).

As for administration, like the rest of these buckets, is also complicated. A good administrator is creative, great at problem solving and critical thinking, and will make the best decisions that can make given their situation. A good administrator would also be able to handle the negatives associated with their position. It's not a walk in the park, an administrator will be forced to make difficult decisions sometimes, and not everyone will be happy with them.

Creativity is important, and the ability to think outside of the box will also come in handy. A good administrator would also possess many organizational skills, as well as a trusting attitude towards those under them. (Something I personally need to work on, however, my personality pushes me to do everything as I am someone who feels that until someone better fit for the job comes along, that I'll take the place. I have also studied personalities...).

Research is important.

As for the ability to command, or command ability... It is essential when in a situation where you need to actually have your followers do something. (This can be applied to any type of situation, not just warfare, as tactics and strategy are seen in business, law, and most other fields). A good commander will be capable of reaching their goals, or doing all they can to. In order to do that, they must be great at formulating strategies and tactics to compliment those strategies. They will need to be great at organizing those under them, as well as ensuring their men/followers are well prepared for what the commander will ask of them.

Diplomacy and Politics I do not have as much experience in, so my opinions will be based on observation and my personal insights into those fields. I am a philosopher, so it won't be too inaccurate.

Obviously these two things are heavily related, however... A politician I see more as the diplomat to the people. A good politician will be able to manipulate people to support them, so that they can achieve their goals. (Of course you can have good or bad intentions, and you can do this via lying, stretching the truth, being brutally honest, using the truth to deceive others, or just being straight with people). There are many types of politicians, and many people feel most of them are crooks, while those who are wrapped around the politicians' fingers, will disagree, in most cases. A good politician might also be a good leader or a good administrator as well, and will have a lot of experience as a politician, and a lot of support of other politicians.

The C&G is full of political drama, and many of the people posting are being politicians, whether or not they intend to. I've only just realized this connection, so I am being a bit of a philosopher right now... It's an interesting concept.

As for diplomacy, it's very similar to a politician, however, you're not working with a large crowd of your own people, but foreign ambassadors, diplomats, and their people. You must convince them that what you're offering is right, or to get the best out of your deal, if you're being offered. A diplomat is similar to a business man in that respect, as they can haggle to improve their positions. Some diplomats might be focused towards helping the other, while others work towards their own interests. Neither way is wrong... It's like democrats or conservatives, there is no wrong way necessarily, there's just the idea of politics that is preventing a country from being run properly and without bias... George Washington was so right in this case, if you get the reference. Anyway, I am getting off topic. A good diplomat would respect their counterparts, and keep a cool head for thinking clearly. They must also employ effective tactics and/or strategies to achieve their goals, much like a commander.

Well, I think that's enough for now. I type a lot, so I hope it was not a bother to read. Anyway... All views expressed here are mine, I did not use any sources, I wrote this off the top of my head... If you choose to read it, then fine, perhaps I have just tackled some ignorance, and perhaps someone will correct me if I was wrong somewhere. Though, I have strong opinions, and most of these things make a lot of logical sense to me, so it would take a lot to convince me otherwise. Thank you for your time, and I hope this was not a boring read.

You're welcome. "

Halfway through my fingers started hurting... But I ignored it.

I type rather fast too, and I am used to typing large amounts of text, anyone who knows me, will know that.

TDFall once said: "@SunTzu

Not enough sentences to be considered a legitimate SunTzu Post™"

So... In a way that's my signature, lots of text. Anyway, you asked for my to delve a little more into each of those factors mentioned in the original post... So I did. (Helpful personality).

Ha, late post... lol.

What are the chances...

Anyway, thanks. At least it's something that is a bit interesting... (There's a lot of "crap" on this forum, in all honesty).

You missed my 6000 word thread, and my 3000+ word reply to a thread then. (This thread is similar to $50,000 dollars as pocket change to a rich man, if you wanted to compare it).

This is nothing. :p

Should help those who read it.

Probably won't be many people who will read it.

Sun Tzu is Chinese, and because of their odd legends, he might even be worshiped over there. I don't worship Sun Tzu, but he was Taoist, and many of his principles and teachings have been proven to be very effective.

He's why we lost in the Vietnam War.

Anyway... He was a real person.

Very well thought out, I am trying to become a clan leader on this account, but on my last one, I miserably failed. I had all those good traits you were talking about. And I had faith in the clan. We stopped growing WITH ads running at 30-50 members. Never grew again. I think it is because it takes me 30-60 minutes to build a simple thing. It makes me sad, but I can't learn where to build fast and good because no one can help. Whatever. Thanks for the advice.

Hmm...

There are some ways to improve building speed, but you're going to need to spend tens of hours building decent places for a clan.
