I am looking for a good laptop as a college/birthday present. I request it be priced around or under 1500.
What I will use for:
+ Internet Research(need fast networking) + Games(online - roblox/minecraft etcetera) + Ipod/Iphone development
Which means I am looking at Macs... The MacBook Pro looks nice as well. Also I am going for a slender computer. Not necessarily small, but it needs to be carried easily and I don't want a heave piece of junk. |

| No Apple computers, please. There are other laptops that are just as powerful, but way cheaper. |

| Get a Dell XPS it has the beauty of a mac, but more powerful and has Windows 7. It also it very light and isn't made with cheap plastic. They use same materials as a mac. What is the material? Aluminum. The price is within your range depending on customization. |

THINKPAD, GET A THINKPAD
If you want an Apple laptop for a good reason (such as the high resolution display, ease of Mac OS X installation, or whatever) don't let the skiddies talk you out of it. |

| I still suggest people getting a Dell Inspiron. I have an Inspiron 17R (17"). I've had it for about 2 years and it still works like new! |

| Plus I payed $750ish for it... Don't know how much the same model cost now. I haven't checked if any new Inspiron models have come out yet, I'm sure some have. |

ThinkPad looks good, but it needs MOAR GIGAHERTZ!!11
Well, it does seem to compete well with other brands anyway, but there are reasons to get any sort of computer, my personal preference is "more for less", but there are different opinions about computers, and mine isn't the only one. |

@ENET Why do you need any one IDE? Why not "Hackintosh"? I've heard it's perfect on Thinkpads. |

| A nice and light laptop is the Macbook Air. I have one and it's great, but the only problem is that it can heat up a lot when playing games like Minecraft since it doesn't have much ventilation. |

| I prefer not having to do annoying and daunting tasks to get the ide and emulator and xcode to work on it.... I prefer just installing and using. Now then if you don't want to help by telling me which mac to get don't post. I am thinking about going for the MacbookPro |

| If you're getting a Mac get a rMBP. There's no reason for anything else, seeing as how you're willing to pay heaps money to avoid "daunting tasks". |

don't buy macs. they have a horrible locked down operating system that does not respect your freedoms. windows programs won't work at all. not to mention they are overpriced and look terrible.
buy a thinkpad |

Apple sells good computers, but my beef is with the pricing. If it's in your price range, go for it.
Also, I'm not sure if it's okay to throw around laptops. |
