I'm trying to learn the bass for "Into the Unfathomed Tower," by Candlemass. However, before the chugging part, the individual notes sort of interfere with each other. Is there an easy way to mute them all quickly, or does that just come with practice? |

I am a beginner bass player. So I can't tell much information. But it is mostly based on practice if you ask me.
It is an incredible pain in your hands if you play a whole song for the first time, when not using a pick. :D
I use both fingers and a pick, though. |

Can you listen to the song and tell me if you could mute it without losing the sustain on the notes please?
If it helps, I can write out the notes. I can read tabs, but I'm not sure how well I could write them. I could probably scan the tab that my bass teacher gave me. |

| I'm not that much of a bass player (more of a guitarist) but it comes with practice really. |

Bass noc? Anyway, sorry. I got to go soon, so I can't listen to the song right now.
But maybe somebody else would like to. |

Okay, thanks. So for now should I just palm mute it without the fullness of the sound at first and try to get better at that?

| Yeah that would probably be better. |

| I usually start with mute, and then play with the rest of the instruments if I know the tabs well. |

...Or maybe I could try picking the string softer so that it fades quicker.
Ehh. |

>It could be the strings used.
The person who gave me the bass was a professional bassist, so I doubt that. I don't know. The strings have REALLY good sustain, so it sounds pretty powerful. |

| Oh, I figured out a solution. If I put my finger on the middle of the string very lightly, it fades out rather nicely. |
