Proposition: A new rank will be added, Council and current Generals will then be promoted to Council. After this has taken place, there will be a General election to elect a certain number of Commanders to the General rank. Each Commander who wishes to run for General must find themselves a Council Sponsor. The Council Sponsor will handle promotions/demotions on their behalf if they are elected. New Generals will be able to join CoO and take part in the decisions that take place within the group. There will be GUARANTEED monthly General elections for at least two years electing ONE new General every month. Every six months there will be a Council Member election to elect ONE General to Council.
Feedback from MB troops is appreciated.

Its a good plan.
The one issue we might reach is council members showing favoritism, and thinking for their friends, not the group as a whole. For example, Council Member A may choose their friend Commander B for General, even if the less popular but better candidate Commander C would make a better General. |

| Agreed, but,A Colonel rank should be added. So Council members with the support of 2 others, can promote a Commander to colonel, and Generals and Council Members can promote a Major to Commander, there should be also be a captain rank before Major, just saying. |

I wish words would revamp the dropships too :(
@brightstorm You make an excellent point. The only problem is however is we don't want a Council Member to be a sponsor for a General they don't like. This shouldn't be a big problem however. Most of the Generals now know how to spot a good leader. |

@Smelly The only reason I didn't include a Colonel rank is that I think that would irritate current Commanders who have worked extremely hard to get to their rank. We also don't need as many high ranks but a Captain rank would work really well before Major. |

| A Commander is the Navy equivalent of a Military Colonel, so you can't really have both. A captain Rank would make a nice addition though. |

I can see too many things going wrong, most involving corrupt generals.
The Council is for trusted generals, if we put ANY general, then we'd be giving power to the untrustworthy generals.
I also never liked the idea for "General elections", because they always turn into "who r moar epik", instead of, "Who's the best choice?" |

| This is a good idea, except of having a "council sponsor" The sponsorship is nice, except promoting/demoting on their behalf. They may not be online, or busy, would decrease the efficiency of the p/d system which is already decently inefficient and cause a lot of frustration. |

@Wise Commanders have climbed ALL of the ranks to major, then personally promoted by words and THEN they have to win an election. Just to get into the CoO. I'm SURE we can trust them not to abuse their power. If they do, we have people to take care of it. |

| Still, of ALL the candidates in an election, low ranks always pick the least qualified, just because he's "moar epik" than the rest. |

The election system has been effective ever since it started. I admit it does divide MB a little, when I was a little pvt, I liked how they let the masses chose. And this system will require a "sponsor" so it will have a little more HR involvement in choosing generals. |

@arcane: Ok... a lil' random, but ok...
How I don't support this
1) Favoritism, as bright pointed out, earlier. There. Will. Be. Favoritism. Yes, the Council Members should realize their duty, during the time, is to pick who would be a good leader, but it is pretty guaranteed that several of the Council members may sponsor me because I've become good pals with several of them. I'm not saying they will, I'm saying they MAY (and if they do and I find out, you can forget me accepting the rank after the election). 2) This will limit the free choice our non-Council-members have. Yes, the filter the sponsor provides separates the power-grabbers from the leaders, but the person the council members sponsor may not be the guy the people WANT. It's like with my family and the current Presidential Election, either pick Romney and his patheticness as a state leader, or Obama and his taxes, bills, etc...
How I do support this:
1) The sponsor acts as a filter, which will separate the power-grabbers from the leaders. |
