I'm thinking of doing a Pokemon roleplay about the new card set Dragons Exalted. I went to the PreRelease and got an epic pull. Rayquaza EX Full art. So that kind of inspired me to do a collab about this. Here's some of the plot.
Rayquaza stared a Groudon and Kyogre. "You both..." Groudon and Kyogre looked up at Rayquaza. " Go to Terrakion. We must see what is his plans." Groudon and Kyogre shook their heads. Kyogre dived into the water and looked around for some kind of island to be around. Groudon walked slowly past Rayquaza. Rayquaza looked at Groudon. "Go. Now." Rayquaza told Groudon. Groudon nodded and fleed to find Terrakion.
So, do you think we should do it? |

| Eh hem.. This is much more different from the others. Instead of based off the Video Games I have it based off the new set coming out of "Dragons Exalted" |

I have it based off the new set coming out of "Dragons Exalted" Umm... The sets don't have new pokemon. They're just the same old pokemon with different movesets and different art. So, your thread isn't based on the game, it's based on...the game, with different movesets.
SweetLily, i know that when you first joined, you were pummeled into the dirt by everyone. I admire your persistence -- The fact that you're still here after we tried so hard to make you leave is impressive... admirable, even -- so here's some advice.
Don't make threads based on existing things. Yes, Hunger Games threads and Pokemon threads may be tempting, and although people may join, most of the seasoned and well respected RPers tend to stay away from those (With a few exceptions -- Firecake loved Hunger Games threads, and made an entire organized series of them.) and will voice negative opinions -- most people will listen to them due to their sizeable clout in the RP forums. This goes double for MyLittlePony threads. Everyone hates them with a burning passion. If you like the show, then fine, I won't stop you, but don't make threads about it if you want people to ever join your threads again
Plan ahead. Don't make a thread the second an idea pops into your head. Write it down somewhere, and then think "What can I do to this plot to make it unique?" You'll need to write an interesting and detailed backstory, the plot itself has to either be very unique or unoriginal with an original twist. A good way to make an unoriginal thread sound original is to write it in a very sophisticated manner, and then forgo the usage of Character Sheets, instead opting for a simple paragraph of description. This will draw more RPers with an interest in literature, who are often a cut above the average RPer, and will thus improve your thread solely on the basis of those who joined.
And finally, this is the most important part -- you have no idea how important this is -- read a book. Look at the sentence structure and the way words are spelt. Pay close attention to the usage of punctuation, capitalization, and when paragraphs begin and end. Spellcheck will take care of spelling errors, but it will not correct grammatical errors on your part. If you write a sentence like "The Great Army, Marched To, The Great Drasbaal, To Defeat, The Army Of Evil. So That They Can Save The World" will be met with hatred of the highest calibre. You see, RP is very much a community of writers, and as such, grammar and spelling are important to us. If you misspell one single word, then most of us won't care. But if you have bad grammar, or constant bad spelling, the thread will simply be destroyed, no matter how unique the premise is.
I can see that you desperately want to join the community as one of the really important RPers, who makes all the best threads. But I have one more piece of advice: Wait. Watch everyone. See how their roleplays are made. Watch which one's die and which ones thrive. Observe how people roleplay. Establish a style of some kind. Eventually, if you get enough experience, you'll make your big thread that gets super popular -- Mine was Vyrivend, last year. I was on the site since 2008, and yet I never made my big popular thread until August, 2011. So, that should give you an idea of how picky RPers can be.
I hope my random, unasked for lesson will help guide towards, at the very least, above mediocrity, and at most, to one of the better RPers here -- We were all like you at some point, so don't worry. You just need to practice. |

| Thank you, Xil. Will, I just don't really know what kind of role-play I should do. It's hard to think of something that's not based off a Video Game, Book, etc. because mostly that's where everything and the imagination comes from. I'm not really a fan of war and sci-fi.. I'm mostly interested in different role-plays. So, I really need help on role-plays. I wanna do something based of the Magic Tree House.. but not really it isn't based off the whole series of Magic Tree House. I was thinking of a real life role-play like off one of the books, it talked about this place called Edo. Edo was a small village in Japan that it was so beautiful and they didn't want people from other places to come there that you needed a passport to cross into Edo. |

rp is a stupid place where you can only do threads based off existing threads if you're well known and/or highly respected
