| I posted this on S&I, no one really cares about Lua on S&I. Implying this is the scripters forum, I'll post it here. |

That is unnescecarry (spelling?) and not logic.
First of all MySQL is used for databases for websites and RBX.Lua is made and restricted for users for the game only. |

There's basically two ways of expanding that ability of Lua to save place data:
1. Allow users to connect to their own SQL databases on 3rd party hosting and execute any SQL query they want.
2. Extend or replace the existing data persistence API and allow it to do a subset of what SQL can do, try to sandbox it from people writing awful queries, and ROBLOX hosts the data.
It seems like #2 might be better long-term, even if #1 is easier for us technically. |

First one is too technical for the target demographic. |

| I think Data Persistence should be expanded in general; it's "Data Persistence" and not "Player Persistence". Perhaps models should be able to use DP? Or places? Especially places, I can't even begin to imagine what people can do with place DP. |

@GreenDay
A lot of the devs and mods post here, presumably because we're more likely to understand what they're talking about, whereas a forum such as OT would be like: "OMG OMG IS MYSQL A H4X I WANNA BE 1337 H4X0R GIMME GIMME GIMME" |
