| Yes, even Macs are better than Windows. Prove me wrong without mentioning their price. |

| With Macs you pretty much just get what you get, Windows computers are much more customizable. |

@Flap
Although what you get is quite powerful, isn't it? Almost all the software that comes packed-in with the operating system is industry standard. |

So a completely valid argument isn't going to be allowed? This is one terrible debate. |

| Can't claim to know anything about Linux, which seems to be the pinnacle here, but I'll mention one thing Windows has over Mac; the release date for everything not designed specifically for the Mac. |

| I'm bringing in the price anyway, you can buy custom parts to build your own PC to build a computer much more powerful for less or equal to the price of a standard Mac. |

Except it isn't a valid argument, if we're going to talk about the quality of the OS we should talk about the OS and what you get with it, not what it takes to get it.
Also take note that Windows 7 Ultimate costs $287 USD, so it's also quite pricey. |

If anything, Mac is a fail.
If you're trying to run a game that some guy (A ROM basically) on a mac, like say..SM64 emulator.
That runs at like 12-0 FPS.
That's how slow the game runs.
If you're for gaming, get Windows.
If you're a relaxed, and laid-back player. get Mac.
I don't care for Linux. It's cool though, better than mac. |

Although what's the point of having your own custom PC? All you get out of it is PC gaming, which hasn't had a good title since 2004. I could get a cheap laptop made in 2002 for maybe 50 dollars, install Linux (Which is the only free OS out of the main 3, btw) and do far more than what a $500+ custom PC could do. |

I don't really think Windows and Macs are much different. Most of my friends prefer Mac over windows. I prefer Windows over Mac though, because I always found windows slightly faster, better for gaming, 3D rendering, software development, etc.
I agree with your opinion on where Linux stands, though. |

What, the one about price? Actually, Windows 7 Ultimate is the most expensive out of the three, costing almost 100 dollars more than the cost of Mac OS X, which is only around $114 USD. |

@Flap
Although that's all valid. A custom-built PC with Windows 7 inside can barely do more than a laptop with Windows 7 and 2 GBs of RAM. The only advantage custom PCs have is PC Gaming, which has been slowing down significantly especially considering how Gabe Newell recently called Windows 8 "Stupid" and has mentioned that a GNU/Linux version of Steam should come out soon.
Also, Linux has far superior RAM allocation compared to Windows, I could get a beast of a computer from 1998, install Puppy Linux and I could do everything I'm doing right at this moment without any problems. |

Pc you can do tons of things and games on.
Mac is just "HEY WE HAVE THE RETINA DISPLAY AND SOME APPS TO WASTE SOME TIME! THROUGH ENDLESS AMOUNTS OF MONEY AT US FOR THIS NEW UNNEEDED PRODUCT! YEAH!" |

Linux is great if you like customization.
I personally think it's a pain in the backside. I used Ubuntu and half of the time it didn't boot up properly. |

"Also as pointed out previously, Mac OS X costs much less than Windows."
but mac MACHINES i.e macbook air costs craploads more which cannot be justified
if the software is cheap then it only rises the question of why their stuff is so overpriced |

@XC6
Since we're talking about operating systems here and not the hardware then the price of the hardware shouldn't be relevant in this situation. btw mac hardware is overpriced because they use genuine metals and whatnot instead of the usual Windows system hardware which is usually plastic and aluminum, this makes them near impossible to break. |

"genuine metals"
define 'genuine metals', i've never heard of such advertisement quibble in my life
"plastic and aluminum"
last time I checked, plastic can be incredibly strong and aluminium is a metal
and why did you say we weren't talking about Mac hardware and then immediately pull the red card for Windows 'hardware'? Microsoft isn't responsible for what materials the manufacturers use for their PCs. |
