All you need is a simple rifle. Not a semi-automatic assault rifle.

| You don't even need a gun to hunt. Why do people use guns? Because they enjoy the scent of the gunpower, the sound of the gun going off, and the feeling of the recoil against their shoulders or, in the case of handguns, their arms. Assault rifles are just another class of gun owner's fun. It's hard to legally get an automatic assault rifle anyways, if not impossible. |

| You realize most of those 'assault rifles' are normal rifles that just look like assault rifles, right? |

| If you can't shoot an arrow, you shouldn't be allowed to fire a gun. |

All you need is a bow, some string, and some sticks you can break off branches. You could make a cool trap with a bow above you and fire in your back. If you are an animal, FYI.

You need strong wood for arrows. It's very likely that if you can't shoot a bow, you can't even pick out nice wood for an arrow. |

Same thing I said about guns applies to crossbows. You should be able to learn what your forefathers had to use before you can use what modern technology will let you use.
@OP, what was used in the Aurora shooting wasn't an assault rifle. An AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle. Assault rifles are fully-automatic rifles. |

| @syfy, you mentioned finding wood from branches, which you would most likely do to make an arrow. But wood doesn't make a whole arrow, you'll still need an arrowhead and a fletching. |

No, I'm talking about placing the sticks in the ground to hold the string to set off the bow with hunting arrows from a sporting goods store.

@Syfy Or instead of making complicated traps that probably won't work, you could just shoot the animal. Using guns is a cheap and quick way of hunting. |
