So.... Now there is no way at all to "encrypt" rare script builder scripts or our game scripts...?
All this did is limit our abilities on ROBLOX, a game meant for building and SCRIPTING, if you are going to make a building and SCRIPTING game you have to accept the fact that you are going to have players smart enough to exploit your game, my gosh, you're teaching your players to script, you're just asking to have exploiters. This limitation isn't going to stop all exploiters and even when you are able to patch this current exploit, its still exploiting... people WILL find a way to get around the security system.

You can't steal server scripts anymore. Also, you should be thinking 'But sources aren't stored in a script, they're stored in a StringValue!'

You only have to add this at the end of your script :

script.*insert stringvalue's name*.Value=""

Yes, it'll work, try stealing with CE or anything else, if you get results from CE, then just wait until the chat cleans out and try scanning again.

@my other post

It only applies in SBs, obviously.

Well, i was more ticked off about them restricting us further on a game intentionally made for building and scripting.

How is this restricting? They removed the 'purpose' (most pf people use it for that) of the bytecodes (precompiling) so that it wouldn't get stolen. But they now made so you can't steal the sources.

Not really restricted... There's lots of ways to "encrypt" your code.

"rare scripts"
There is no such thing as a "rare" script. Scripts are supposed to be made by each user, not collected. In addition, obfuscating these so-called "rare" scripts does nothing to deter users from actually using them, just from modifying them. They gave several good reasons why they removed it on the blog post.

tl;dr version:
Removing bytecode doesn't stop you from doing anything you couldn't already have done (other than exploiting).

Would you rather people go around pretending to be you in games then get your account banned for saying things that break the rules?

That's an example of what this "Bytecode" exploit could do, it would allow users to go into high privilege scripting, meaning they could do things like DDoS ROBLOX internally or cheat visits by creating non-existent players on their place.

I personally do not think Bytecode was anything beneficial anyway.

That bytecode thing only worked in Script Builders though. Although mew903 did find a clever use of making anyone who joined his game an admin >:3

@Rencedalas

Can't tell if troll or incredibly poorly informed.
