Ooc;
I'm sorry. The Idea Ice-cream melted; only a liquidated form remains. Just don't troll this, because I know that this is probably the only subject that has been left un-touched, and probably for good reason. If this somehow reunites RP, let it be that way. That is all. ____________________
Eons in the future, around the time the Mario Tennis Invitationals occur, the whole world begins to quake. But then again, SEVERAL worlds were having metaphorical seizures. The reason for this was that universes collided, creating a massive multi-verse. Another star appeared near the Mushroom Kingdom; the Pop-Star -along with its inhabitants- suddenly went into orbit around the sun.
Bomberplanet also was pushed in, but became colder due to the larger orbit. Even Minecraftia, the Floating Isles from Cave Story, the world of Legend of Zelda, and several other planets were soon floating in a super huge solar system. Tennis -being new to just about everyone(except for Kirby's race; they just swallow a racket)- was a bit difficult to learn, but the tourney still played on for the largest tournament from anywhere; at least 5 people from each world played.
After further discussion, all areas agreed to avoid fighting(as a war would be very chaotic) for as long as possible. Instead of the one-area Invitational, the representatives of all the worlds agreed to meet every 10 years for a massive tennis match. Training buildings sprouted out of everywhere; you had to be tested before you could even get a membership to avoid overcrowding. The facilities were about a square mile, but even then, it got pretty crowded. |

Interesting idea, not sure how it'd work.

Well, we need people who are interested to figure out the brackets.
These are the basic things that happen in Mario Tennis:
There are skills such as: Topspin, Backspin, Power, Speed, and Control. You can hit a ball regularly, or spin it. \ -| O Topspin
--/ -| O Backspin
Topspin sorta makes it go to the left; backspin to the right.
Speed does the obvious thing, but you actually slide from going so fast. Control stops you from sliding. _________________
Also, there are Power Hits.
After returning a certain amount of hits, your racket begins to glow. Depending on what it is, the effect is different.(I.E. Bowser lights the ball on fire, Mario hits it with a hammer, Kirby would swallow it then spit it out) Also, after a point, the counter lowers a little bit. You'll have to return a few times to recharge it.
If you are FULLY CHARGED, but you can't reach it(about 3 meters), you can do a recovery move. Clay(The GBA's Main character for Mario T.) can use ESP to "phase" to where the ball is. Luigi uses a vacuum. |

Yes, I've actually played MT: PT.
But how it would be roleplayed, I don't know.

I pop out from a shallow doorway, to the left. Code Name: Side door. "I am bringing heavily confidential information. I will show you the plans for how this may work. Warning however, there will be slight role-playing problems, for lack of content!" I open the lavish briefcase, revealing plans.
Starting Match: Player 1 VS CPU Scenario
CPU serves, with a backhand, heading right to X 4, what would you like to do? P: Front hit please! You wack it hard, and sails over the net. CPU responds with a normal hit, and it bounces on X 2. P: Smash it upwards You whip the paddle upwards, and it rockets sky high, barely going over the net. CPU cannot get ball back in the air. Player 1 WINS!
Starting Match: Player 1 VS Player 2
Player 2 serves. P 2: I would like to do a classic serve please. You nail it hard, spiraling straight in the air to hit the player 1. P 1: Sweep block You bring your paddle up and wack it back over. Etc.
Now the table plans...
VVVVV (V + Location = V 6) JJJJJJJ XXXXX ------- XXXXX JJJJJJJ VVVVV
Problem would be role-playing itself, but its a working theory at least. You can thank me for my help on the tab please.

It might be a bit RPG-ish, but this could very well work.
We do that, or we go with turn-based posts.
Bracket:
o -| o-\ ---| o-/-\ -|---\ o-----\ -------| o-----/ -|---/ o-\-/ ---| o-/ -| o
We make a thread for each Bracket match. At most, we'll probably only get 12 people, so the bracket shouldn't be that complicated. |

The thing is sorta turn based. I didn't really understand the bracket, mind explaining that? (I'm not a tennis player.) |

It won't have no complication.
And if we have an odd number, we can add a CPU.

CPU, or we seed someone... Anyways, a bracket works like this:
There are 8 players in the bracket below. Each one is assigned a number 1-8.
#1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, and 7 vs 8.
2 wins, 3 wins, 5 wins, and 8 wins.
2 vs 3 and 5 vs 8.(Semi-finals)
2 wins and 8 wins. 2 vs 8(Finals) 8 wins, so 8 won the tournament.
1\_ 2/--2\ ------\_ 3\__3/-2\ 4/--------\_8 (Winner) ----------/ 5\__-----/ 6/--5\_8/ ------/ 7\_8/ 8/ |

Yeah, of course. It could be altered for quite a few numbers.
(Or we could use the bye method.)

It would sort of be an ISRP, but not quite. More like an IMRP. It would need more role-playing flare... (Interactive, Multiplayer RP.) [I <3 playing on anagrams.) |

First, I don't actually know the "Bye" method. Second, it would be an RP, just each post would be faster; it be more action-y. Third, what the heck is a IMRP? |

Meh, I'd probably join it anyway.
Also a bye is when someone doesn't have a match for a round in a bracket. If you have 5 players, in round one, two fights of 2 would occour and the other is bye'd. Semifinals, 1 match goes and the other gets a bye. Bla bla bla so on so forth

Yeah.... CPU would be simpler....
Mark, I think it might be an IMRP, but it also leans to the regular RP's side. |

Nah, it's actually not.
There's 3 types of shots(Topspin, Backspin, Normal hit), then there's just 6 general zones to shoot at.
Take this diagram:
x|TOB I|TOB I|~~~ x|-P
(The shots are if you were facing forward and shot straight forward)
"T" represents where a topspin shot would go, "B"= backspin, "O"= Regular hit. "I" Represents where the ball would go if you hit the ball lightly, "x" is when you hit it further out(Compared to "I"). "~" is the net, "P"= the Player.
If you were to shoot at the "X, T", you'd say,"I topspin the ball to the left corner."
Shooting the ball to "I, O", you'd say, "I lightly hit the ball to the center."
Get it?

Run-over: __________________ Bracket
It's 1 vs 2 and 3 vs 4.
1 and 4 win, and then face off. 1 wins, so he/she wins the tourney.

Of course, you should add more detail to it. ________________ Power Shots:
There are two types; Power Shot and Recovery. Recovery helps you save a ball you normally wouldn't be able to, while Power Shots are more offensive.
You must hit the ball about 8 times in a row to charge up your Power Shot. Your racket glows when complete.
Whenever hit by a Power Shot(not Recovery), it removes some of your charge.
That's about all I scrounged up at the moment, so add whatever you think we need. |
