I was looking at the blog post about ideas for groups and I was looking at the raiding idea that the one dev had.
While I'm not in any war groups and I won't be, I think it'd be cool if they did the land thing kind of like EU3 (Europa Universalis 3).
Basically, groups would start off with a small amount of land on a very large map. Groups would raid other groups land/hq's/bases/etc. and if they succeeded they could take over the land or they could allow the group to stay there, but the group would pretty much be under the control of the other group.
Groups can pay to put bases on parts of their land. This means that they select part of their land to put a base on and then the members with building permission on the group settings get to build the base. Groups can only have 1 base per area and areas are set by the group when they create a new base. If a group succeeds in a raid on a base they get that area and the base. The base stays the same, so the architecture is still there. This also allows the other group to dissect it to find possible secret passages/codes in the group they just raided's other bases. If the HQ of a group is raided and the raiders succeed in the raid, they can take over all of the group's land/bases, so extra security would need to be added to HQs.
To succeed in a raid, the raiders must KO all of the defenders. Once you're KO'ed in a raid, you can't go back in until the raid is over. This is how raiders take over bases.
Groups would set their own goals for the map but I think that we can all agree that most groups will try to take over the entire map.
Groups would have reputations, and each group would start with, say, 100 reputation points. Every time, say, 25%+ of the group assists and ally in a raid/helps an ally defend against a raid the group gets more reputation points. If less than that assists an ally in need of help, the group loses reputation points. If a base of theirs is being raided/an ally needs help/etc. then all online members of that group are alerted through a popup.
There would be a new type of currency. Lets call it Currency3 for now. Each group starts with, say, 1,000 Currency3. Groups get Currency3 from successful raids. Currency3 can be used to buy bases, buy land from other groups, bribe another group, buy alliances with other groups, etc.
Different pieces of land offer different resources. You can build facilities near your bases to collect resources. Resources can be sold to other groups and can be used to create things such as weapons for raids. These facilities can be raided and taken over even if they haven't take over the base which it is part of. Each facility would be a seperate place.
You're probably thinking, "can't these weapons just be scripted?" The answer is no. Building on the group land will be more restricted than regular building. Scripting can't be used, and because of this resources would become very important.
Groups could also use resources to get things such as spaceships to reach other planets which could be colonized. However, things such as oil would be necessary because rockets need fuel. So the group would either need a refinery or other groups could sell refined rocket fuel for more.
There are also some resources such as metals that would have to be mined. Actual people from the groups would have to work in the mines to collect resources such as metals. Groups could use things like minecarts to move through the mines more quickly. These could also be used to increase the amount of resources that could be carried back to the surface.
I will add more based on feedback. |

@Yo
There was no solid idea to begin with.
This was just my version of the idea. |

| You can't suggest something for groups if it hasn't even been released yet.How don't you know they were already planning this but just didn't tell us? |

@Andy
What's to be confused about?
Your group could claim parts of new planets
Everything would be the same on these planets function-wise but they'd have new materials, different terrain, etc. |
