| This would make gameplay easier especialy in games with complicated controls and first person shooters. All you have to do is go into the menu and under settings select usb controller on/off. Then you can click set controls. Then it will bring up a list of keys used in the game. Click "K" for example and then press a button on the usb controller and then whenever that button is pressed, it will act as if you pressed k on the keyboard. Also you can set movement/camera control to an analog and it will allow more precise contols and a sensitivity level can be adjusted. Usb controllers are probably already usable, but this makes it much easier to set and use. This would also work with ps3 contollers :D! |

| Too complex. As many games use more Key Buttons than most controllers have. |

| No, not really. If they allowed you to put in a combination of 2-3 buttons as one key, then it would be possible. |

| How would you control the mouse and your character at the same time? How would you configure the keys? How would this be beneficial? Why is this needed? Who would use this? Why not use the keyboard? |

R1:Click(Click can be assigned to another button) Left analog: Movement Right analog: Move cursor Camera control: First person follows cursor, move cursor to edge of screent to turn in 3rd person. Rest of buttons: Whatever key you would like assign them to.
How would this be beneficial? Better controls.
Why is this needed? So roblox will expand and users will never agian complain about mouse sensitivity. Who would use this? People with playstation 3 controllers and usb controllers.
Why not use the keyboard? Because the useb controller may be easier to use. |

"How would this be beneficial? Better controls." Keyboard: Around 46 (including the keys that enables chat, dropping hats, etc.) Controller: 14 (including the D-pad and start and select buttons) Does better controls count as constantly needing to config controls in the middle of a battle?
"Why is this needed? So roblox will expand and users will never agian complain about mouse sensitivity." This is not needed, only wanted.
"Who would use this? People with playstation 3 controllers and usb controllers." If you own ps3 controler, than you probably own a ps3, and will most likely be playing the ps3.
"Why not use the keyboard? Because the useb controller may be easier to use." Again, the keyboard has more buttons. You can't really do proper game functions correctly when you are only limited to 8 buttons. Plus, how would you chat? |

Better controls?
HAH. You make me laugh.
I want to trade my keyboard with it's 50+ Keys for a -20 button controller. OBVIOUSLY IT'S GOING TO CONTROL BETTER!!
Fail.

| Umg. Controllers would work well with a wide selection of games. You dont even use most of the buttons on the keyboard exept for chatting. And you don't have to use it for chat anyways. If you have time to chat, the gameplay isn't extreme enough to need a controller. Also controllers CAN'T have -20 buttons! Combinations of two buttons can also be used. And just because someone owns a ps3 doesn't mean they don't play roblox. Also what idiot would config the controls in the middle of the battle? All it takes is 30 measly seconds to apply the few controls to buttons. Not very many games have so many controls that it cant be configurated. Sensitivity would not be complained about. Move the analog slightly to make it go slower. Move it harder to go faster. Also giving what the players want is the same as expanding roblox, as it makes people want to play and tell their friends about it. A tool cycle where you press r3 and roll it to select a tool is helpful and eliminates the need for a bunch of buttons. Also looking down at a keyboard every 3 seconds because they shifted their hands and they're pressing the wrong button can be a problem with keyboards. Not everyone can memorize the locations of buttons. |

I'm going to do a very simple mathematical stunt once I see how many buttons you tell me are on there.

@Cold; actually, I'm with him on this one. Some people do work better with controllers than the keyboard. I know a few people who are -Don't ban me for this mods, I'm not talking about a ROBLOXian here, but a friend of mine IRL- rather low in the intelligence department. Keyboards are something they absolutely can not use., but they are rather adept with controllers for X-Box, Ps3, and the things like that.

@jacob
let the debate begin.
while that an excellent point to how some people aren't good with controllers, several problems could arise with this.
1.chatting-How....
2.lack of buttons- yes two-three can be pressed at one time, but for some games that still may not be enough.
3.sensitivity-YES this would still be a problem.
i rest my case(until further reply) |

Alright. 17 buttons? Then lets do this: 17! Or; 17x16x15x14x13x12x11x10x9x8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1 Or... 355687428096000 total possible combinations of keys. Keyboards have... Well, lets see... I don't feel like doing that, so take your standard QWERTY keyboard, count the number of standard keys (103 - 104 or something like that) And do what I just did with 17. It's called a Factorial, and will show you exactly how many combinations you can get. If you want to place a limiter on it, then you would do something like this(this is not the actual mathematical operation completely, but it's basically the same thing) Lets say we want, on the 17 button, to find how many we can get with only using... 8 buttons. So... something like this;
17! ---- 9!
Stretched out, it looks like this;
17x16x15x14x13x12x11x10x9x8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1 ---------------------------------------------------------- 9x8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1
Which comes out as
17x16x15x14x13x12x11x10 Or 980179200 combinations, using only 8 keys (XBox's case; Up, Down, Left, Right, X, A, B, Y, would make a good example).

| you also have to take into consideration the physical limits of the human hand. as a guitar player, i learned that your fingers can only stretch so far apart without being painful, or without being unable to maintain your other finger in its place. my mathematical skills are those of a monkey on drugs, but i can assume that most of those 355687428096000 combinations of numbers are extremely difficult to do due to the lack of flexibility of the human hands. on top of that, the software required to implement USB controller use into games would be rather difficult to put into a game such as roblox. |

Also, you gave me the wrong #. I counted all the key movements on an X-Box controller I have. There are 34 that I counted just then, may be more. Here, I'll name em. 1: LT 2: LB 3: RT 4: RB 5: >>> 6: Left analog Up 7: Left analog Down 8: Left analog Left 9: Left analog Right 10: Right analog Up 11; Right analog Down 12: Right analog Left 13: Right analog Right 14: Back 15: Start 16: The big green X button in the middle 17: Arrow-pad Right 18: Arrow-pad Left 19: Arrow-pad Down 20: Arrow-pad Up 21: X 22: A 23: Y 24: B 25: Left analog Up-Right 26: Left analog Up-Left 27: Left analog Down-Right 28: Left analog Down-Left 29: Right analog Up-Right 30: Right analog Up-Left 31: Right analog Down-Right 32: Right analog Down-Left 33: Right analog press 34: Left analog press
Now, I can push between 8 and 10 at the same time. So, I can do between 40320 to 3628800 different key combinations with less than 1 second of time required. As in, I can do something like this in just one movement(Which is what I meant by less than a second) "A-X-Y-B-RB-RT-LB-LT-Rap-RaDL" (Rap = Right analog Press and RaDL = Right Analog down-Left) AXYB can be done, because I can run my thumb in a circle over them
The controller easily matches the keyboard out, because it has more combinations possible than the keyboard has keys.
