This is a detailed explanation of how the bandit system works on Apocalypse Rising.
After killing three "Survivors" you will become a bandit, and you will be given a bandanna. This will never go away, unless you die.
If a Survivor shoots another survivor, they will be "Pvp tagged". Every time they shoot and hit another player, a 15 second "Tag timer" is started. If that player is killed by another survivor after they've been Pvp tagged, then the killer will not be one step closer to becoming a bandit. This is called a defensive kill.
Rule: You only gain kills toward bandit status if you kill non-Pvp tagged survivors who YOU shoot first.
Exmaple:
Player A shoots player B. Player B, kills player A. The kill WILL NOT count toward bandit status for player B.
Similarly:
Player A shoots player B. Player C kills player A. The kill WILL NOT count toward bandit status for player C.
Rule: You are NOT Pvp tagged if you shoot a Bandit, OR someone who IS tagged.
Example:
Player A shoots player B. Player B kills player A. The kill WILL NOT count toward bandit status for player B. Player C then kills player A. The kill WILL count toward bandit status for player C.
Player A is a bandit. Player B kills player A. The kill WILL NOT count toward bandit status for player B. Player C then kills player B. The kill WILL count toward bandit status for player C.
Rule: Tagging is reset for each successive hit on a person who is not tagged. (15 seconds)
Example:
Player A shoots player B. 20 seconds later, player B kills player A. The kill WILL count toward bandit status for player B.
The "Survivors Killed" stat in the inventory does not differentiate between kills that COUNT toward bandit status, and defensive kills. Due to this mechanic, it does not accurately reflect one's progress toward bandit status.

This is awesome I've been playing today and got 7 kills because i was hiding in the church and my friend was making random friends and told them to go to the church and i was hiding behind the wall in the church in kin and on my record its say I've killed 7 people and days survived is 3 days.

| Me and justas6 were doing really well! We had pecs, mosons, (not sure how you spell them) M1991's, M9's, blood packs by the dozen, GPS, Maps, matches, wood, backpacks, journal pages, meat, tonnes of food and drink and well, we were epic. surviving 12 days and killing 5 people! Justas6 was a bandit! Brilliant game! |

I like my bandanna :3
Lovely machine gun, loads of ammo, killing people in groups. They should try shooting back, the only one who did was some new player to their group with a makarov and he missed both shots, ran out of ammo, then I destroyed him.
This game is great, i'm glad that you put the effort into it and I appreciate that. |

This only has one flaw that I can see off the top of my head-band.
If a bandit decides to be a bandit with 0 kills, he is trusted until he gets his 3rd murder. |

| I would've been a Bandit according to this. I had an M4A1 with 9 mags and an M9 with 4 mags and a Military Backpack and all the utilities and 109 zombies killed, 7 players killed, 6 days alive, and I got killed by a guy with a Makarov. Lol I was SO mad and I felt SO dumb also. |
