@RA2lover
I know how to use string.char. Its called being extremely bored to the point where you don't use it. |

Why don't you just use tostring, tonumber, string.char and string.byte?
You can use tonumber to manipulate bases and string.char to convert numbers to characters. |

I personally think you did a good job at going away from the "norm" of doing things.
I made a way to get angles from a CFrame using math functions instead of toEulerAnglesXYZ. All the replies basically suggested "Why not use toEulerAnglesXYZ?"

What did you expect?
Reinventing the wheel or solving and old problem is not something noteworthy unless you've contributed something novel in your own solution. That's not to say that this is a futile activity or one that I've never partaken in. It's just not one worthy of much recognition. |

@NecroBumpist
I expected you to realize that you cannot build something better if you do not know what you're working with.
I expected too much. |

@MrNicNac
I had thought that my diction would imply that problem is already well understood, but it appears that my wording was not strong enough since you did not infer my meaning as I had intended. Using your interpretation, my post would appear as a straw-man fallacy assuming the method you re-implented was previously not understood. Sorry.
I also take wry amusement from your expectations of and disappointment in me. |

In a game im developing in XNA - i could either use a pre-existing implementation of the transvoxel algorithm.. or i could wade through a 94 page paper and try and make one myself.
I chose to make it myself, I figure if absolutely understand what is going on enough to have built it ill be able to optimise/debug/modify it far beyond what i would otherwise be able to accomplish.
So mock him all you like.. but at least he has the attitude needed to gain a deeper understanding in a feild and will hence become a better scripter/programmer than the more lazy among us as a result. |

Hehe...you must have adapted to doing that from a lot of disappointment. |
