In all seriousness though,
My theory is:
The CIA got some angry goat farmer gave him a butt tonne of money and told him god wants him to blow up America. So he did. Now US invasion of Iraq and death of 50,000 Iraqi civilians that no one seems to care about since the death of 3,000 good white folk is a bigger tragedy.

The Iraqis were forced to retaliate and the whole world thought they started the war.

@Commander
Well, you can't blame us for retaliating. But 50,000:3,000 is a pretty big gap. |

No I can't blame the US retaliation. But I can blame you for a massive 50,000 civilian casualties due to poor airstrike placement and general lack of consent for Iraqi life shown by the US military.

But Candy that two year old girl's death can be completely justified because 0Z0NE said people die in war which makes it ok to kill little girls.
While we're at it let's justify the lolocaust.

Commander is sort of correct. The army fought the war as if it were still a nation state conflict. That is, stage IV operations were relegated to undermanned and undertrained constabulary forces. The entire operation was, in fact, understaffed (the CPA governed under 100,000, while the Coalition a decade earlier commanded over 400,000 bayonets) and adhered too strongly to the wrong policy. "Sweeps" were ineffective and succeeded more in alienating a population which swelled the network of insurgents to 200,000 by 2007.
Ironically, despite the Bush rhetoric vehemently asserting the war was to find and destroy WMD, the administration did not prepare for such a conflict. Stage IV operations would have been a constant objective, massive police forces would have been deployed, and the entire op would have prepared to effectively seal Iraq's borders to prevent proliferation or further regional exchange of WMD (for which a market, although small, does exist). This was obviously not done--New York City has a police force of 38,000; barely 10,000 ground troops were equipped to patrol Baghdad, a city of 6 or 7 million.
What the Administration failed to recognize was that the conflict was an entirely new phenomenon: the Market State War. As long as we rigidly adhere to a policy intended for the nation state conflict, we will have terrible failure in combat operations. |

| I might also mention that the Market State, who pledges to maximize the opportunity of its constituents, highly values human life. This is why Commander and others have a strong distaste for civilian casualties, while in previous (think Long War) conflicts, they were almost inconsequential. |

Yes, but this is only half the problem. Now, most westerners hate us.

That and the US had poor knowledge of the terrain and region when they went in.
The militants won several ambushes in Al Adar before the US called in the Apaches.

Yes, the unfortunate consequence of fighting a type of war (specifically, declaring that preemption and anti-proliferation measures are legitimate war aims) that Europeans refuse to recognize will do that. |

Somewhat irrelevant. The initial assault on the dying nation state framework in Iraq was brilliant. Our greatest mistake was that we followed the plan to the letter: the Feyadeen, considered a nuisance (LOL) by the army, were simply left in the rear. |

Iraqis fighting for the US were only good for entertainment and morale. They hardly did anything except make fat jokes.
