| I've already been taking tutorials in java. My first project was a minecraft mod(It's easy so that's why I started with it) and it was 230 lines. |

Go get BlueJ instead of eclipse if you're still learning, it's an IDE designed specifically for teaching Object Oriented Programming. |

| Java is a nice language overall. Pretty easy to use as well since you don't have to deal with a ton of obscure C++ errors while at the same time the standard library is very extensive and useful. |

| I'm currently starting with Python - it looks much easier than Java or Lua to me, but it's generally regarded as slow. |

| Python is a great language to get started with coding. I love using it. And in the computer world, "slow" usually means a matter of milliseconds. Nobody will notice that. |

@techboy Yes, it being some miliseconds slower than C or whatevs doesn't matter given you're coding simple 2D games and the such.
Now once you're making big programs you're probably gonna want a faster language. But if you're just starting, Python is the perfect language. @OP, if you decide to go with Python for whatever reason, google "Computer Science Circles" - it's an interactive tutorial series that helped me learn Python quite a bit. |

Lua is faster, quicker to write and has an elegant syntax. Python is more powerful (you can do much more), well-known and is better to be used stand-alone. |
