I never really watched him a lot but I knew who he was. I'm 50/50 on whether he should.

you realize that the more a safety tackles people, the more likely someone managed to beat him through the air?
dawkins had an 11, 15 and 26% stop rate vs passes against him from 2008-2010. he also ranks very low in other defensive metrics. he is very, very overrated. |

I think B-dawk should get in personally, but it's a little hard to respect how epic he was and the incredible on and off-field impact he had on his team over the course of his career if you didn't watch too many of the Eagles' games during the B-Dawk era, so maybe it's just because I'm a bit of an Eagles fan, but I think he should make it.

I dont think its really fair to take those 3 low percentages from the end of his career, he was in his mid 30's at the time as opposed to better coverage in his prime and youth, he didnt have the speed to cover as well. I think if you look toward all around, hes one of the best safteys to play the game. He brought an intense mentality into the locker room, and his motivational speeches are right up there with Ray Lewis in my opinion. He was a hard hitting saftey in my opinion deserving of the hall of fame, but were all entitiled to our own opinions right?

At the end of the day you gotta realize he changed the whole culture of that locker room, and he was a huge part of that team. He bring intensity and focus in the locker room to a whole 'nother level, he arguably changed the game. Not all of his stats are picture perfect, everyone has flaws. Deion Sanders couldnt tackle, he was hittin' people with his purse all career, hes still a hall of famer. It isnt about one bad area, you gotta look at all the positives, and Im pretty sure they heavily outweight the negatives, hes a HoF worthy player in my opinion till the day he gets in.
