Viacom made a deal with Time Warner a few years ago, and that deal expired recently.
Today it might be DirecTV, but tomorrow?
One thing's for sure. You can guarantee you service provider won't fight harder to keep your bills low (and hold their reputation as one of the lowest costs in the nation).
Either way, switching from DirecTV means you pay more.
And even if you don't have DirecTV, your service provider will probably cave in to Viacom's 30% more request, which will mean you(r parents) will probably be paying 30% more anyways for your Viacom shows such as:
Nickelodeon Spike MTV Comedy Central VH1
and others (these will be the channels at stake for people with DirecTV). |

| Doesn't bother me... I only ever end up watching the BBC or SkyNews. On the off occasions, I watch CNN too. |

| Switching providers doesn’t help the situation because you could be facing this same problem with a different provider next year. All video providers are now faced with these same threats of higher costs which will make your monthly bill spiral out of control, so in the end, everyone’s family is forced to pay higher bills. By holding firm, DIRECTV has been able to keep our customer’s share of these increases to just 4% — the lowest of any video provider. |
