It’s all black, the floor, the ceiling, the walls, black. If you turn around you can clearly see two green and comfortable looking arm chairs with a nice sized lumber table sitting in between them. The left chair is exceptionally taller than the other but seems to be just as thin. The table looks recently washed. Resting on the table is three rows of nine cards, all flipped to face the back.
In the distance you can hear a clattering sound of glass hitting against glass, followed by the unnerving crackling sound of fire, which only seems to grow louder as you wait. You feel the urge to run, yet it doesn’t seem there is anywhere to run to.
The crackling sound ceases in magnitude of sound, although, the black starts to waver in one particular spot high above, you must tilt your head up all the way to see it. It hurts your eyes, causing you to squint. The wavering spot appears to be a lighter colour of black than the dark one covering the area, You hear a voice coming from that spot, the voice is deep and slow, almost calculating and anticipating something.
“Ah, hello there, I suppose you’re wondering about many things. How about I offer you the chance to ask some things before I speak?”

>Where am I?
“Where I currently reside and stay, though my location sometimes changes.” The sound of shoes hitting a tiled floor can be heard as the wavering air above seems to move beside you.
>Why am I here?
“For reasons, perhaps they are ones I don’t wish to specify until later. I’ll let you guess." |

>Why are there nine cards on the table?
“An observant one, aren’t you? One could simply expect you to just point out ‘Cards’ but it seems you took the time to count them out. They could have to do with your reason to be here or perhaps I like having entertainment laid out for my guests?" |

“There are some things that don’t require a full deck. Tricks, if you will. I like to think of myself as quite good at them, others may disagree.” You hear the clacking of his shoes again as he moves over to the tall armchair. The wavering black sits above it, giving the impression that he may be sitting down now.
>Why are you talking to me?
“Would you prefer I not? No, of course you wouldn’t." |

>Who are you?
“You’ve come upon my home in a random manner with no warning or message. Usually I would be the one to ask first, although, you’re quite lucky. I already was already well informed that you were coming here. I may not tell you who I am, though, I am willing to give you my sobriquet, Veritas”
>Move over to the table and flip over all the cards.
Being fed up with him avoiding all your questions with a vague response you walk over to the table and decide to see what the cards about. As you almost get to the spot where they would be an arms reach away you feel something stop you. It scratches lightly at your back before pulling you upwards by the shirt. Your feet are now hovering over the ground. “Impatience breaks trust, your strong feeling to gain something is the only thing keeping you from obtaining it." |

>Let me down!
This choice of words seems to have no effect on him. In fact, he holds you up higher than before. If you were to estimate, you would say you are now about six feet in the air. The man probably finds this amusing.
>Quickly apologize
You utter some words of apology as your actions were quite rude and unlike those of a good guest. In no way did you mean to upset the man and were unaware that he did not condone going near the cards. After saying this you feel you body moving through the air. Gently something sets you down on the floor, however, you are now on the opposite side of the tall armchair. |

>Why would I apologize?
There is a complete silence for once in the room, the first since you’ve arrived here. The man speaks up shortly after. “You are alone with a man, a quite dangerous and charismatic man. I will not give you any knowledge of the place and I seem to have the power to kill you quite easily." |

>Race to the cards again, fast enough to flip just one over.
As you race you trip over something, your objective has failed. The man props you up and puts you further away from the table. “We’re getting quite restless, aren’t we? Anymore questions before I say what I must say?" |
