hitTest is used for collision dectection as you stated. What version of AS are you using?

I'll find you a good example, and if not you can have a moderate one from me. |

I said I do know, but I am not brilliant at explaining things. Su said, something I use more than the one that's there for you is making your own. You have more control over it then and that's very useful. |

Click the symbol, there is a box where you can name youre object, probably has Instance Name already in it.
Then to find that object.
_root.NAME From that _x _y and so on |

| octrees, quadtrees, whatever. just use trees or some other form of making it efficient, although arguably trees are easiest. |

You do need to explain which ActionScript you're using.
I mostly have experience with AS2, but I have not even looked at AS2 for almost a year...
And I didn't like AS3, because it seemed like there was less support for what I was doing at the time.
Though, I'm rather inexperienced with it, I believe I have used collision checking before, but I don't remember any of it. I'm sure you could look this up online and find some help. Just make sure you mention which AS you're using.
I just remember what I used collision checking for... A simple ping pong game, a snake game, a catapult game... Heck, I forgot what I made with AS... :/
