I haven't been on the forum's lately... .-. Anyways, this idea... will blow your mind. Okay, not really. I dunno. I'm tired. On to the idea?
In FPS games, everyone's had those days where they find it annoying how you just walk around, shoot at eachother and hope your gun is overpowered. But... but this brings a whole new level of skill to the battlefield.
Let's say there's this n00b you don't like, so, what do you do? You challenge him to a fight. At your place. He thinks it's an ordinary SFing game or whatever... but, man is he wrong. He joins. He sees a menu. He clicks "find match" expecting it just to be for show. But, out of nowhere, him not epecting it, it says: "Match Found With (YourNameHere)". "Cool" he says, and he still doesn't know the whole thing...
Okay, now the real thing, instead of lecturing you with examples, is that you can start a match with someone in the game... 1v1, or 2v2. It's not average fighting, though. There are action keys. What are action keys, you ask? Only the best fighting invention on roblox. You can hit a key on your keyboard, and it will trigger a move. Anything, anything at all. Examples:
-He swings at you, but you duck under the blade to avoid the swing by hitting a key. -He shoots at you, but then you press a key to make movement slowmotion as soon as he shoots, and then you dodge the bullets. -Trick shots? To counter an upcoming dodge, you could curve the bullet, maybe?
Obviously, I need more, but I like the concept of it. I hope you do, too. |

So, a turn-based fighting game?

| No, I forgot to mention, you need energy to hit certain keys. Like, to dodge by ducking or something, you need 50 energy, but you only have 30, so you get hit. It's basically be quick and have a lot of energy points. |

| I'm not sure how a player could earn energy points though. Max Energy = 500? |

As you win more matches, your level goes up, as your level goes up, you get more Health and more Energy. After a match, your health and energy auto-refill. But you have limited health and limited energy in the battle.
How's that idea? |

| Pretty good. I'm thinking of adding counter attacks, but they cost more energy then dodging and attacking. |

| maybe you should also have so if you block you always block the hit but if you dodge there is a percentage of actually dodging it |

Other way around. You CAN dodge, but if you block, it hits you, so you do lose health.

| This will be first person, but not like mose games. There will be HUD, and the cursor will be movable. There will be a "select move" GUI. You can get more skills by learning them or leveling up. |

RP, obbys aren't complicated at all. And how is this scripting way too complicated? It actually isn't. Look here. -Custom Animations -Matchmaking -Energy and Health system -Level System -SlowMotion Toggle
The only thing that hasn't been done before is slow motion, and I don't know if I'm even going to put that in. Besides, would I care if you only play it once? No. |

Although I'm not into combat-based games any more, this would be interesting to see.
Although real time combat might be too quick for player-side reactions. Maybe have a charging meter for the attack that the opposite player must react with-in before it fills, and once the meter is full, the attack is made and the action is... Activated?...
Like say a sword's power strike took 3 seconds to wind up and swing, so the other player must select "Dodge", "Block" or "Counter" before 3 seconds or else take full damage. And as an added complication and advantage, the attacking player can already have their next attack already chosen as their first is charging, kind of making "check-mate" senarios.
I'd like that. Stratigic. Mind vs mind game, not skill vs skill. |

| This is the kind of stuff I search for in every combat game! Basically, I like to have a lot of controls, and know how to use them! =P |

| Thanks guys. And I do hope someone takes them and puts them in to action, because honestly, I'm just too lazy right now to do much. And I'm still not an advanced scripter, so that will get in the way. Especially because I can't google most of the scripts I'd need. |

| I am building the basic map, though. I'm thinking the the player shouldn't actually move, but instead, stand still in the arena and let the attacks/dodges move you. Or maybe go strategic, and have it so you could only move 10 studs/turn? |

I love it! i'm tired off unrealistic FPS games. Make it so that if you get shot in the leg, you slow down and lose 25 health. make so that if you get shot in the arm, it's harder to shoot. there is also a first person lock. head- kill leg- slow walkspeed, 25 health loss arm- hard to use the gun, 25 health loss back- 90 health loss, and you have to crawl chest- death side- death if a bullet comes behind you, the game forces you to turn round. the game goes into slow motion, and you can't doge the bullet. when you get hit, you slowly lose eye sight until it turns black. if a bullet is 10 studs away from you, same. instead of a health bar, do this: Damage: 0% Life: 100 Ammunition- 500 left. Ammo used: 0 Energy: 200 (the more you walk and shoots ,the more energy you lose) Status- Nervous (nervous means you reactions are raised, and the gun is hard to control. these are the statuses: Confident, normal, grave (serious), sad, dying.) Walkspeed: 25 Kills: Coordination: 0,0 (this is your position) Time left to complete mission: 100 (explained below) Enemy opposition left: 100 (explained below) Allies: 100 (explained below) make it scary so it's realistic. make it dark. make different missions, such as Mission 1: infiltrate (you have to break through enemy lines and take a base.) Mission 2: rescue (your partner was captured in the attack along with others.) Mission 3: defend (you have to defend the base you captured.) Mission 4: continue the invasion (attack more bases) Mission 5: counter-attack (the enemy attacked, so unleash a counter-strike) and so on. the time limit is how much time that is left you have to complete each mission. enemy opposition is how many enemies are left. once it says 1, a boss comes out. allies shows how many allies you have that are attacking with you. {if you follow this advice i guarantee you it will be the best FPS game on roblox} if you play Ace Combat 6 or any Ace Combat, you will understand the missions better. |

| @jonman, i like that one, but how about you gain energy over time. and if you want to gain energy, make it so that that player can be afk if they want, to get more energy. |
