Gamers today have many problems. But I am going to sum it up by stating the main categories they tend to fall in.

1. The Console/Franchise Fanboys
-The problem with fanboys is that they limit themselves in their enjoyment by their pride, and attempt to also limit other people's enjoyment. For example, a PC fanboy usually does not quite get the core principles of gaming, and refuses to try other consoles. They end up missing amazing games, such as Final Fantasy VII, Dark Souls, or even Xenoblade. This same can also fall under Sony fanboys, Xbox fanboys, or even Nintendo fanboys. When you limit yourself to a single platform, you miss out on amazing games from others. This does not only apply to console fanboys. Franchise fanboys as well. A person who says "Final Fantasy is the best RPG series ever made" and limits themselves to other RPG's is limiting their enjoyment. If you think you've found the best game ever, shouldn't you WANT to find a better game? Isn't that what gaming is about, finding the funnest game possible?

2. The "Hardcore" Gamers
-The people usually are the "only rated M" gamers. These people miss out on any amazing game rated T or E. Again, like fanboys, this is also governed by their pride. They do not wish to seem younger and want to seem more mature. But this is what I don't get. Why are teens like this, too? If you're a teen playing a rated T game, how does that make you look any younger? Look at Kingdom Hearts or Super Smash Bros. Even though those are not rated M, many older gamers who mostly play Xbox/PlayStation would agree that those are great games. Limiting yourself to one rating is an extreme limitation to your enjoyment. As a philosopher once said, today, the M rating is a selling point of its own. Meaning, a game with an M rating can lack in content and just the rating would make up for it. Again, meaning that a game with a lower rating must try harder, thus, be better to stand up with M rated games. Given, not all rated M games lack in content, but you see the point.

3. The Graphics Fanboys
-I big problem with these gamers is that they limit themselves to only the newest and most high definition games. Meaning, they basically only play specific 360, PS3, and some PC games. Graphics fanboys don't only limit themselves to great games on the Wii, but any console from any company before this. Meaning, you would not catch them playing Final Fantasy VII because it is not high definition. You would not catch them playing Xenoblade. I tend to keep on using these games as an example because they are my top 2 favorite RPGs. Final Fantasy VII is on the PS1, meaning, compared to today, its graphics are extremely poor. But its presentation is still incredibly. Xenoblade, my other favorite RPG, is on the Wii. The graphics may not be HD, but the game still look amazing and I rate it up there with Final Fantasy VII. And, you know, plenty of Sony fanboys play Final Fantasy, right? But look at Last Story. Another game not released with grade-A graphics, but was made by the same guy who made Final Fantasy. Guess what? They'll never get to experience that game because they limit themselves to only the newest HD graphics. The PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Nintendo 64, or heck, even older computer games. They all had amazing games, but since the graphics are outdated, you people will miss them

4. The Prejudiced Gamers
-Given, a fanboy, or even a "hardcore" gamer could be considered a prejudiced gamer. But this category goes a bit deeper than that. For example, if someone sees a game with Disney characters in it, they might automatically assume it's kiddy, simplistic, and/or a terrible game, without even playing it. Although, Kingdom Hearts is a great franchise and does not fall under these at all. A prejudiced gamer "judges a book by its cover" and makes opinions on games without even trying them. I can understand it if, let's say, EVERYONE all over the internet, all your friends, and everyone tells you a game sucks, so you don't buy it. I'm talking about the people who either don't know anything about a game and/or has people saying it is good, and still refuses to play it because of something on the cover that didn't 100%ly appeal to them.

5. The Stubbornly Ignorant Gamers
-Notice how I didn't say, "the ignorant gamers." THis is best ignorance isn't necessarily a problem, since everyone is ignorant in some way or fashion. But ignorance becomes a problem when a person is stubborn and refuses to change their thought process. For example, let's say a prejudiced gamer sees Pandora's Tower in the store, but then quickly looks away and starts despising it for being on the Wii. And then later, his friends get together, and all of them have played Pandora's Tower and are talking about its amazing game mechanics, extremely dark and desperate story, and yet the friend still refuses to give the game a chance. He still forces himself to keep on believing it automatically sucks for being on the Wii and does not give it a chance. These gamers are very common. Basically, they make an ignorant assumption about a game, console, etc and refuse to believe anything different no matter what people tell them.

PS: None of these Wii games I have mentioned use Motion Controls. They all use the Wii's regular game pad (Classic Controller Pro). I did not do this because games with motion controls are automatically bad (that would be prejudiced), because I know games like Skyward Sword are great. But I did this to show that the Wii is not just motion control games, which is a common belief.

PPS: Don't bother trying to correct me any area. That would just show you're convicted of that area and are trying to change it. Please, it would not hurt your look to not say anything and to just change how you game. Because, if you don't say anything, how would we even know this applies to you? In fact, we'd probably assume you were always the good gamer you changed yourself to be. But, if you post trying to correct something, you're probably just going to hurt your look.

PPPS: Have you met any of these gamers?

@tydog
Yeah, that's usually the "hardcore" gamers. Like I've said throughout this, gamers tend to let pride limit their enjoyment.

But yeah, how you said it is a nice way to sum it up.
