Religion was created to help man understand the things that couldn't be understood. Things like "Where did all this come from" "Why do people speak different languages?" are all questions that different reigns answer in different ways. But science is something that offers explanation to things man can understand now. "Where did man come from?" can be answered by "Man evolved from primates."
I personally don't beleive in evolution. I think we may have evolved WITH monkeys but not from them. Or they would've died out due to a process called natural selection. If we did evolve then we would have no way of prving it. |

Science hasn't proven everything quite yet, and that's why we have nerds in labcoats to figure things like that out. Why were here is something that may not ever be answered, religion or not. Even if there IS a higher power, why is He/she/it here too? Where did that higher power come from in the first place? |

They never explained to me that there were other religion than Christianity, they kept me from getting to info in the bible that might be questionable. I found out about other religions through friends and the internet.
=========
My parents tried to do the same, but I read the book and looked at what they did to "sinners" and how male biased it is.

"Religion was created to help man understand the things that couldn't be understood."
And as we advance in technologies, we find newer questions that we cannot answer. It's human nature to go to religion.
"Things like "Where did all this come from" "Why do people speak different languages?" are all questions that different reigns answer in different ways. But science is something that offers explanation to things man can understand now."
We couldn't figure that out in the past, though. We didn't have the science. Had we kept it a mystery, I don't think we would have as much history as we did back then. But it's not only to make history; it's to give a divine answer. Wouldn't you want to believe that there's not only a god that's giving you all of these great things, and a beautiful afterlife afterwards, whether it's nirvana, heaven, and the like? No? Then continue thinking we only live once. ""Where did man come from?" can be answered by "Man evolved from primates.""
No it cannot. The theory of evolution hasn't been proven, although it's highly possible. |

Religon? Religion* .
Anyways, every theory foe everything there currently is (theories of everything combine quantum mechanics and einstein's relativity) States that God is possible. It's because they state theres other universes, with other laws of physics. Eventually, one of the universes need to have "God".
Anywyas, avoiding science as I rarely meet an atheist who knows it, let's drop to psychology...Since it's no real science.
Ignorant atheist = less healthy than a blind faith christian.
And theres far more atheists who know next to no science, than there are christians who believe the bible is proof of god. |

| It has enough evidence to state otherwise, and the same can be said for creationism. |

Why I mostly don't believe in atheism:
AFTERLIFE.
They say that you only live once. But how could that be? How exactly could you go through all eternity, not knowing that you're dead at some point? They say it's like being in a deep sleep- there is no dream and you can't feel anything. However, I would think at some point the same thing would happen even if you're dead.
Reincarnation is most likely to be true, imo. |

@NSB
You live for (hopefully) a long while, then you go into a sensory deprivation mode called death, you can not feel it, nor can yo tell a minute from a millennium. You are not conscious. |

| Since your brain is dead your aren't really contiouse of the fact that your dead. I think reincarnation is possible though. |

Okay, but there are many good points out there that make sense, and in the science community it is proven (somewhat).
-The fossil record shows that the simplest fossils will be found in the oldest rocks, and it can also show a smooth and gradual transition from one form of life to another.

| Fossil records? Haha! I don't disagree with either party, but fossil records and carbon dating are both worthless. Even scientists agree on that. And monkeys would evolve into humans given time; the point however is a single cell organism becoming multi-cellular. |

And I don't think there is an afterlife. How could I pop up somewhere as the same entity with a conscious mind, even though my bodys brain is shutdown and unconscious? Reincarnation may be possible, through science maybe. |

@Doleo Yes, single cell organisms evolving into multicellular organisms is a great point, but these Christians would just say "Well god must have made some of these multicellular organisms.." They had to of evolved.. Funny thing, the bible says nothing of any animals that had become extinct before man came about. |

Cheese. You're ignorant. Christians rarely state that evolution occured. god simply set everything into motion as is. I was attacking the idea of evolution as we have yet to witness a single celled organism become multi-cellular.
I also proved that God is able to exist, incase you missed my first post in this topic. String theory, m-theory, all the garbage scientist love to boast about, state that God is possible. Along with the flying spaghetti monster, santa, travelling past the speed of light, et cetera. |

"Since your brain is dead your aren't really contiouse of the fact that your dead."
That's what I keep thinking, but I just can't imagine going through eternity without noticing anything.
Like, if you REALLY think about it, you'd think about the same thing. |

Sure it's possible, but that doesn't mean christianity or any religion for that matter is valid. But there could possibly be a higher power. |

When you factor in how Go and so forth are scientifically possible, and that evolution isn't proven yet, you realiz they're both just as probable.
After that, it's a known fact Christians are healthier due to their false, or true, beliefs.
So, if atheism and christianity are jsut as probable, but christianity helps your health, then christians > atheists.

| We're here right now and I could care less about how we got here. Knowing how wont really do anything significant. That's why we should just abandon all religion and beliefs and just live in the present |
