yes, open a port for your server and if you haven't already you may want to allocate more memory to the server which can be done with a .bat "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx2G -Xms2G -jar "Minecraft_Server.exe" would set 2GB of memory to the server. |

Jordan, please don't hide the last part. Most likely, it is 1. You have two choices: 1. Forward a port If you forward port 25565, then people don't have to add :25565 at the end of your server ip 2. Don't connect to your external ip, connect to localhost That means add a server with the server ip localhost

| You could connect to my server. Also, the IP you are trying to use is your internal ip, not your external. |

I didnt hide it, I have to choose that part in my router settings
1.I though i did, I went to 192.168.1.1 and forwarded 25565, what the server software said it was hosting on... I know 2.That works for me, not my friend trying to connect

| Jordan, open command prompt and type in "ipconfig" then find the IPv4 address, that is your internal IP. |

| The IP you have to open the port on is the one you get from the command prompt. It will be 192.168.1._, chances are the last number is between 1 and 10. |

| And do get ip for port forward you just write "ipconfig" in cmd.exe and look for ipv4 in first section thingy. And remember you should have empty spot in settings where it asks for server-ip. |

1- Type 192.168.1.1 in browser to open router configuration page 2- Go to port forwarding 3- In port add the minecraft server.txt port that you specified 4- In IP add your local ip (Execute>cmd>Ipconfig as zars stated before)
Done :D |

And about minecraft.properties important things you should need:
server-ip= server-port=[yourPort] |

| @jordan. There he told you how to port forward, and if you want your friend to connect, he has to use that ip from whatismyip org |
