Some questions in this forum are asked over and over.
Of course, we could just answer them over and over again. But, since these questions are very common, it is probably better to just write detailed and thorough answers once and to give these every time the question is asked.
Fortunately, there are already resources available to help users with building. The point of this thread is to list some of these resources.
Edit mode: - http://www.roblox.com/Help/Builderman.aspx?id=221966 - http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php/Edit
These articles describe how to use the edit mode and introduce users who didn't know about it to it.
CFraming with the command bar:
- http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php/CFraming - http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php/CFrame
Both of these articles describe CFraming using the command bar. The first is oriented more towards builders, while the second is oriented more towards scripters. If you already have scripting knowledge, you will be able to do much more with the command bar because you can use all the other features provided by Lua and ROBLOX's API.
This article might be interesting too: http://www.roblox.com/Help/Builderman.aspx?id=221965
And this one too: http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php/Roblox_Studio

For those who would prefer to learn through a video and to learn some stuff about the studio, this might be interesting too: http://www.roblox.com/Help/Builderman.aspx?id=20711478

| Tracking. Thanks, now I can remove all the threads of each separate question from my MyForums list, and just keep this one. |

That was exactly the purpose of this thread. :)
I want these links to spread all around so people actually benefit from them. I noticed some people here were starting to make guides, so I thought it would be better to give legit resources from the staff or from the wiki. |

I have a question for colorfulbody. Who's your alt? Not too many people that have just recently joined Know that much about roblox so you must be an alt.
Well I think it is a good idea getting everything organized and catagorized. Then we could as building helpers put all the questions in one thread with links to all the helpful posts.
The only problem is how do we get newbies to use the search feature? And what would be the best Heading for such a thread?
If such a thread was created , I would bump it as much as I do with theopfor's CFraming guide. Which by the way would probably be listed in this thread. |

Scacman, it is listed in this thread... Well, the Wiki version of it is.
Personally I think that because all these links are answers to the question on the Wiki, it makes them that much more helpful, because it also tells the people with the question that 1. We *have* a Wiki, and 2. that the Wiki has the answers to any other questions they have.
Because just a link to another thread on Building Helpers is helpful, as it answers their question, it only answers that single question. The Wiki on the other hand, has everything. |
